A 330ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2012. Picked up recently from a local off-licence. The label describes it as 'strong crafted English lager'; brewed for Pierhead (a UK distributor).

Poured into a straight pint glass. A light golden colour with faint haze and good carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam with decent retention; this subsides after a while to leave a patchy surface layer. Aroma of light, grainy malt with notes of mild floral hops, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Faintly sweet, with a depth that indicates maturity.

Tastes of light, grainy malt with a dry finish. Notes of mild noble hops, earthy yeast, a subtle peppery quality and stewed hops. Slightly sweet and decidedly dry. A crisp, mild bitterness upon swallowing - though the flavour doesn't linger. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with nice carbonation and decent body for the style. Aftertaste of grainy malt with echoes of hops and yeast.

Not the world's greatest lager but not bad - it certainly has more character than the average macro product. Subtle hop and yeast notes add depth, while the smoothness and creamy body suggest proper lagering. Decent and drinkable - at the right price I could imagine having this again. Worth trying.

Yet another beer by this brewery where they don't add their name to the 'credits'. Picked up in 'Rhythm and Booze' near Blundell Park, Cleethorpes.

330ml bottle: best before 13 Nov 2012, opened during one of my random drinking evenings on 16 Nov 2012, some three days late.

The beer was poured into a Duvel glass at home: golden with a slight haze with a fading white head from the start.

The beer had a sour feel from the begining, might have been skunked in the fairly bright shop, I've only had it a week. Bland and boring, glad I only bought one of them. To be fair it is really just another supermarket brew from Hepworth and should be viewed as such.
