From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on August 20, 2014.
Handsome looking medium brown to reddish pour. Modest off-white head. Fairly typical for the style.
Aroma is malty for sure but there is a a biting, almost sour hoppiness that is also picked up my nose.
Too much hoppiness in this,. One expects more malts for a Scottish brew. Basically malts and hops on the nose.
Medium body.
The taste is vibrant with hop and boozy characters that sometimes accompany a Scotch brew. Good malty character but not exciting. More fruity than anything.

Light brown with red cast, clear, a couple fingers of whipped cream that calms down to thick beige cap, some good looking oily legs of lace left languishing luxuriously.
Not a lot going on in the aroma department, some caramely sweet with some herbal bitter behind it and light alcohol spice.
Much brighter in mouth,. Some sweet buns and caramel, very tasty English hop bite to go with it that lasts to the end of the sip. Along the way there are light flavors of sort of a grassy lemon that at first is tasty, but as the glass goes along get in the way. Big plus for the alcohol being so subdued and tasty.
A bit cleaner cling would be desired for this beer, it builds and detracts, otherwise appropriate carb and viscosity for style, but the finish dings it.
From what I've read Mr. Noonan's beer was quite a bit better than what it is I am drinking now. OTOH this is a tastier beer than my hyper critical review suggests, and I do recommend it.
