First off, it's Ethan Allen, not Alien. We took a trip to Burlington on the last week of July and the first night we had dinner at the Vermont Pub & Brewery. It was a nice night so the outdoor patio had an hour wait, so we went inside. But anyway, came in a pint glass, golden color with an average head. Smell was sweet malts with some sharp hops, almost pils like in the nose. Taste was pretty much the same. Mostly malty with hops hitting the palate in the middle and lasting into the aftertaste. Went down nicely with the grilled chicken dish. Pretty much down the middle of the road beer, but has a nice taste to it.

nice yellow gold color, good head with nice lacing. very smooth brew. nice and creamy, very good vienna style lager. definitly not in the pilsner category but still very refreshing. i think this might tie for best beer there. very drinkable, inoffensive. highly sessionable. the ethan alien has definitly landed onto my radar as far as nice down home vermont brews.

An average beer, in my opinion. If you are looking for a Pils type lager, this is not the right choice. If you are looking for an export or Vienna type lager, you have hit the mark with this one. Very malty, thick and sweet. There is some faint hop bitterness at the finish, but not enough to make one want more of this stuff. A good starter.

This "original Vermont Lager" was a straw gold color off the tap with a thin white head and great clarity. Moderate retention of the collar but weak lacing. The aroma was subtle, slightly sour lager malt and dry grain crispness. The flavors were crispy and malty, with a distinctly dry grain note in the middle before the slightly bitter finish. The body was light, the carbonation soft and the drinkability quite high. Sessionable and pleasant as lagers go.
