this red ale hits the mark. Not really impressed with Fearless' other offerings, but this one is a winner. Great balance between malts and hops. Very smooth drinking with no awareness of 7%+ abv. Just a good earthy red ale with a nice malt backbone.

16oz can, 7.5% ABV. 'Center of the brewing universe', eh? That tongue had better be firmly planted, if not painfully so, in your collective cheeks (you get to pick which ones, I'm an easy-going guy), I hope.

This beer pours a clear, medium orange-brick amber hue, with a fistful of puffy, tightly foamy, and weakly bubbly beige head, which leaves some decent sharply edged webbed laced around the glass as things gradually recede.

It smells of bready, somewhat biscuity and toasted caramel malt, red apple, anjou pear, and muddled citrus orchard fruit notes, oily nuts, a hint of earthy yeast, the suggestion of an opening coffee shop door, and a bit of metallic alcohol warming. The taste is warm caramel pudding, soft toffee-flecked biscuits, edgy, somewhat stale nutty essences, mixed and matched dark fruit, gritty, and sort of dirty yeast, and a plain citrusy, leafy, and earthy hoppiness.

The bubbles are prevalent, but fairly understated in their diffusion, the body a sturdy medium weight, and actually quite smooth, no hops in this offering having the temerity to interfere as such. It finishes barely off-dry, surprisingly, the hops now opting to dive right into the state of affairs, pushing back the otherwise dominant, and weirdly crispy malt.

An enjoyable enough strong amber ale, one which has more than a passing resemblance to Scotch ales, whether by this brewery, or others. Sweet, more hoppy than initially perceptible, and boozy, in that sneaky, look the other way while I render you helpless to my various whims manner, whether you like it or not.

Quite a nice surprise here. Poured into my new Rogue pint glass. I randomly pick up one of the cheaper single beers at the Market, and it's a delight! Amber to red color, a little cloudy with a nice head and solid lacing. Smell is fairly good, the mix of malty and hoppy smells are predicting the beautiful balance about to come. The roasty malts come through first, then into bit of alcohol and some delicious hops. There is a tad bit of extra bitterness lingering that doesn't lend itself to the piney flavors of hops, just the pure bitter one. But overall it's still a very nice hopping. An extra creamy mouthfeel as a result of the slightly lower carbonation, and fantastic freshness from the can. Recommended

on-tap @ Highcliff Pub and Restaurant.
from notes.

Arrives a clear amber red with a thin white head.

It has a mildly hoppy, citric piney blend in the aroma and palate. Balanced well with toffee and bready malts.

Medium+ body, with average bubbly carbonation.

An enjoyable beer, with a pleasant blend between the hoppy bitterness and malty backing.

I have a Husky & Rottweiler mix named Loki, so I had to try this one.

On tap at the 15th Hop House in Portland, & served in a served in a 16 oz. modified strange, the beer is a dark garnet with a tan head. It has really nice lacing, the beer is a looker! My dog is kind of a looker, so we will call it a draw.

Malts and citrus (smells better than my dog..) it is fresh and inviting.

I like the interplay of the malts and hops on this one. Citrus and pine in the forefront, followed by caramel malts.

The mouth is thick and coating. It’s an enjoyable beer that does my Dog proud!

Overall, I am not all that impressed with this beer.
It's OK, and would be good for camping as it's in a can.
It's not a bad beer, but it's just all right and that's not shouted enthusiastically.
The color is fine, as is the smell.
I just think the flavor could be more distinctive.

Nice red color with very little foam left.

Citrusy smell with a malty backbone.

Great upfront hops fed to a malty backbone.

A little lite on carb for me, but nice hearty malt taste.

Overall a great beer did not realize was 7.7% until I checked in very well balanced.
