Amasa is an extra dry domesticated wild ale brewed and bottled to be enjoyed now, or aged. Ringing in at just 4.5% ABV, Amasa is not only sessionable, but it still retains a lot of flavor. The use of Brettanomyces yeast in the bottle conditioning process lends a rustic characteristic to the beer. If aged, many of the unique yeast qualities in the beer will become even more evident.

Had this the one and only time during March Madness 2015. Can't remember if James or Roy brought it. Could have been Matt.
Pours a yellow color, 3/5" white head. A non hoppy citrus aroma, lemon, orange, hay, barn.
Taste was kind of dry and chalky, or maybe that equally pertains to the mouth feel. Grains. Alternating feels of light rye like spice with a mild funk presence. Good carbonation kick to it. Low volume of tart/sour notes, went for the brett and its primarily that with some woodiness along the way. Large amounts of levity in comparison with the complexity of the flavors going on the entire time. Even a hint of white grape on the back end that goes well with the hay notes that last the entire time. Drinking this beer fresh and then reviewing it years later makes me wonder what it would have been like if we waited until this March Madness to drink it. Seems like its still an active beer, so maybe next time we can lay one down in the cellar and see what happens.

Yes well I had this somewhat more than 3 years after bottling, and the brett had its way with it to make it very funky in aroma and taste. Despite the claims, ageing is always somewhat of a gamble.

Appearance: Pours a hazy goldenstraw, capped by a massive whipped egg white head; strands of lacing linger
Smell: Lemon, bread, hay and a hint of Bretty funk
Taste: Bready, with hay and lemon tones building; a hint of funk, through the middle and the finish brings a modest earthy bitterness and a peppery tone
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body; slightly overcarbonated
Overall: Bottled on 12/20/13 and slightly oxidized; the lesser of the two beers in this series but still holding up well, overall; a delight to drink in its overall simplicity
Thanks, pagesofphotographs, for the opportunity

Poured from 510mL bottle into a tulip. Bottled on 7/14/15.
Appearance: silvery-golden hue with a dash of haze and plenty of effervescence. I poured pretty gently but still ended up with three fingers of frothy white foam; I think it's great!
Smell: a dash of funk, a dash of tart and a satisfying dose of grassy hops. Very nice indeed.
Taste: lightly sweet with a mild funkiness and a nice grainy character. The graininess really plays surprisingly well with the springtime hops and slight brightness of the funk. I like it.
Mouthfeel: light body with a huge carbonation and big, satisfying creaminess.
Overall: this is one of the most delightfully drinkable wild ales I've ever had. It's a bit mild, so it might not appeal to everyone, but it's just got a great mix of tasty and quaffable, and I love it.

Poured into a wine glass from a from a 17.25 oz bottle
A - a clouded semi-translucent golden straw in color and a two finger very foamy head and some sticky legs/lacing
S - citrus hop, floral, touch of weed, citrus fruit and rind, cracker yeast with a touch of Belgian, the sour is much more on the nose and smells very clean.
T - huge hop and sour up front, nice citrus bitter (rind), Belgian style yeast, pine, dry Malts/grains, dry flowers, lots of soil and very fresh water
M - Medium body, nice complexity, nice balance, medium plus acidity, medium plus carbonation and a sour to dry to hoppy ride of an ale
D/O - if you want refreshment, this is where you'll find it. Fresh crisp water, clean dry malt, slightly punchy hops and a sour wild yeast that won't quit. Cool, hot, dry, rain, snow or shine this is the ale of the day, when looking for refreshment. Wow. Well done.
Final thought - at $7 a bottle this one is well worth a go. The less than 5% abv leaves a boy to be desired but awesome none-the-less
