Poured from the 375 mL caged and corked bottle into a New Belgium snifter.
An elegant and attractive beer. Pale golden color, delicate white head, luscious micro-bubbles of carbonation flowing to the surface. Holding this one up to the light - it just looks heavenly, like I would want to swim in this stuff.
Smells like a Belgian pale ale. That twang of Belgian yeast, golden pears and some other non-descript fruitiness (though all subtle), and some grainy flavors. Remarkably balanced nose.
Sweeter than many Belgian pale ales. Ripe pear and mild peachy flavors intertwined with spicy Belgian yeast. Not as clean or dry as, say, Duvel.
Carbonation is there, but gentle. Yields a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Fairly buoyant and light bodied, but given some gravity from the level of sweetness.
An enjoyable take on the Belgian Strong Pale Ale. A little sweet for my taste, but that is not reflected in my ratings. My ratings reflect the solid craftsmanship this brew presents.
