Pours a dark roasty brown with a tall off-white head. Aroma is lots of candy sugar and malt sugar, somewhat dry and a little yeasty.
Taste is roasty malt, more dry instead of sweet. Any sweetness comes from candy sugar flavors, not necessarily from the malt background, although some cola/caramel flavors are present. Some light elements of raisins or plums, a little bready, traces of banana and yeast. Some chocolate malt and more light fruits emerge as it warms, but overall it remains dry with no trace of alcoholic flavors
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated and very drinkable. Much lighter than expected, lighter than most other Belgian ales of the same style, which makes it much prefereable. A great American version, actually better than some Belgians I've had, one I would drink again.
