Russian River Sanctification Batch 006 in 375ml bottle into Duvel tulip on July 22, 2012.
Golden yellow with slight hazy. Pours with ½ white head that fades to thin covering. Good lacing.
Soft yeasty and spiciness with notes of lemon and mild biscuit malt, which offers slight sweetness. Reminiscence of both Duvel and Saison Dupoint. But then on top of all of this is a notable sour funk with notes of lemon and slight candy tart. Very close to taste and overall, nice profile.
Initially get a sour, slightly lemon flavor that is sharp across the palate; with notes of slight spicy and Belgian yeast faintly in the background. A mild hops presence is increasingly detectable midway through offering a mild bitterness and light spicy hops flavor. Then after the initial sourness, the underlying base of the Belgian-style blonde comes through, with soft malt presence (slight notes of biscuit, bready, and a very small touch of honey) that gives a nice balancing sweetness. This malt presence peaks in that late-taste and lingers, but with decreased intensity in the finish. Overall, the beer has great flavor profile that is both clean and refreshing, yet still manages to have depth.
Nice sourness that is moderate, with good coating of the palate. Semi-sweet profile with a drier finish. Moderate carbonation that is enjoyable and accents refreshing aspect of beer.
An above-average beer that shows you that beer doesn’t have to be overly blold or complex to be great. The use of Brett takes the beer to a whole another level. There is the juxtaposition of simple elements that combine for great balance and depth. Nice element of refreshing, and appropriate alcohol content. Definitely would have again.

Poured on draft at the brewery. chalk board noted this was the 2013 batch, poured March 4, 2014. pours hazy yellow with white head. Sour apple aroma, vinegar, lots of Brett. Nice Brett on the flavor with sweet citrus fruits and lemon peel, some pears and green apples. Tart and lactic but not mouth puckering sour to deal with here. Very light and goes down easy with near spritzy carbonation. Really nice Brett beer that I would definitely have again.
