375ml bottle (Batch 08) into a Corsendonk tulip.
Supplication pours with a ruddy, copper-tinted amber hue. Active carbonation streams up at the edges of the glass to fuel a well-retained cap of tan khaki head. Excellent aroma is bursting with tart cherry juice and skin. Oaky wine barrels creep into the background with an earthy, tannic funk that plays well off the tartness. There's even the slightest note of vanilla sweetness to round off the profile.
The flavor impeccably recreates what the aroma suggested this beer would bring--dry, acetic wine notes laced with cherry tartness and wooden funk. My only qualm is the mouthfeel, as I feel that a tighter, creamier carbonation level would allow this beer to explore the palate a bit longer. Still, my nit-pick is a minor one. This is a fantastic sour ale and an essential representative of the style.

2010 Vintage on tap at Belmont Station
A: a medium brown color with a light red tint. Small off white head.
S: really nice cherries, some wine, and a little funk.
T: follows the nose. Tart cherries immediately, some blackberry maybe? A hint of oak from the barrel.
M: high carbonation. Nice and prickly. Refreshing dry finish.
O: freaking fantastic! Need to find more bottles for my cellar.

Poured into a tulip glass from the tap at Russian River Brewery.
Very little head, leaving behind small lace ring.
Nose is sour with a touch of sweet, there are cherries and blackberries with notes of oak.
Tastes of cherries, sour blackberries, oak, and wildflowers.
Light yet sharp mouthfeel, lots of acidity.
This beer boarders on perfection. Enjoy it.
