Russian River is one of the hottest breweries in the country. They are known for pushing the envelope when it comes to beer styles. Especially, IPA's and belgian wild ales.
This beer is a bit different from the typical Russian River beer. It is a hardcore, tradtional, American IPA. No bells or whistles with this one.
Pours a beautiful bright golden, slight copper color. Thick off-white head.
The aromas of hops are just the overwhelmingly strong attribute of this beer. I smell, earthy, grassy, piney, floral, citrus, cedar notes. As well as some some slight, sugar cookie, biscuity malt.
Taste is sharp and crisp. Very bitter. Slight sweet, biscuity maltiness.
Mouthfeel is sharp and crisp. Some oily hoppiness and some slightly cloying sweet malt adds to the complex mouthfeel as opposed to taking away from it.
Overall drinkability is excellent! For a brewery that's been focusing on wild sour ales and over-the-top hop bombs, I belive Vinnie presents his most tradtional and most balanced beer here, while maintaining his envelope pushing tendencies.

Appearance: Poured a darker shade of gold, almost amber. Had a very small head that was gone within minutes.
Aroma: Had a very hoppy aroma which was very pleasant. The hops gave off nice aromas of both citrus and pine.
Taste: The flavor was what you would expect from a west coast style IPA, full of citrus notes and some good hop bitterness that lingered a bit on the tongue. A nice subtle malt backbone added to flavor of this delicious IPA.
Mouthfeel: Nice full-bodied beer that had a nice amount to of hop bitterness lingering on the tongue. Had a nice dry and bitter finish.
Overall: A great example of a west coast style IPA. Loved the citrus and pine aromas as well as the citrus and malt backbone in the taste. Easy drinking IPA as it does not have an overwhelming amount of hop bitterness but enough to taste and appreciate the hops. Very good brew.
