Bottled on 9/30/2011, drunk on 10/17/2011. Poured from 500 mL bottle into a snifter.
A- Dark gold to light copper in color. Poured a creamy white head which reduced to a thin film of white bubbles. Brilliant clarity.
S- Hops! Citrus bursts out, lots of grapefruit. Little bit of alcohol noticeable.
T- The same citrusy hops are present as is some grass. However, there is a noticeable malt character with a somewhat bready taste (not sweet). Tastes slightly boozy.
M- Although there is high hop bitterness, the beer is full and creamy. Medium-high carbonation tingles nicely.
O- A complex and well balanced IPA. Really appreciate the malt character and how it keeps the hops from overwhelming the beer.

on tap at Interurban, Portland
Mad off-white lace over pale amber.
Mint leaf and lemon zest on the nose.
Light caramel and toast, some orchard fruits (yellow plum, peach) then light pine, citrus, and resin in perfect ratio.
Tangerine skin end and children’s aspirin linger.
Light to slightly medium, oily, a bit of chew.
Balanced like a katana. So light, crisp, round and just the right amount of hoppy. Deserves its legendary status.
