A big thanks to Bob for saving this one for me!
Poured into a tulip glass. Bottle dated 9/26, enjoyed on 10/25.
Appearance - Pours a nice golden color with a slight orange hue. A solid inch of head. Great lacing throughout the session.
Smell - Lots of hops! Smells bitter, probably from grapefruit. Slight hints of tropical fruits.
Taste - Very similar to the smell. A ton of hops. Some hints of pine and certainly some grapefruit. Slightly sweet. The hops are balanced out a little with a subtle bready malt.
Mouthfeel - Good carbonation. Feels pretty dense and sticks to your teeth a little.
Overall - An excellent IPA from RR. In my opinion this is just as good as PtE. (obviously two completely different aspects though) Was glad to try this one and would definitely recommend if you have the opportunity.

Still another wonderful acquisition from BigStein88.
Love the name Blind Pig, the euphemism for speakeasies in Prohibition days. But yes RR also took it literally for chuckles, there is a drawing of a pig with dark glasses and a cane on the label.
Bottled 1/16/14. Not two months old yet.
Poured from the 16.25 oz. bottle into a Samuel Smith English tulip glass.
a: Crystal clear dark gold with a two inch tall white head which receded slowly to heavy rocky surface foam and patterned lacing. Required a couple of additional pours to get a pint of it out of the bottle.
s: Intense citrus and pine, DIPA strength aroma
t: Pine hops forward with medium strength over a mild malt base. First impression is it's a hop show. Balances out better by mid-consumption. Surprisingly little hop bite lingering on the tongue.
m: Slickly smooth, medium with good body. Ongoing carbonation tingle supplements the hop bite.
o; A highly drinkable and distinguished IPA. More hop power than many, although with all the new ones out lately, this little piggy risks getting lost in the wallow. Perhaps it had more punch when it was just-out-of-the-brewery fresh. May have to wait until my next trip to Cali to find out. Still and all and as is, exceptional for mouthfeel, balance and refreshment value, worthy of its current #101 spot on the BA top 250 brews.

Bottle from the brewery. Bottled 2-24-14 and poured on 3-4-14. Oooh fresh. Pours to my wine glass a mostly clear golden copper color with a very creamy one finger white head on top. Classic grapefruit and pine aroma, some mango and pineapple, more pine and grass. Flavor is sweet tropical fruits behind massive pine bitterness. Resinous mouthfeel, medium carbonation, and extremely smooth. I do see why this is so loved, and it is quite a fantastic IPA with a lot of heft despite the lowish ABV. Good stuff.
