500mL bottle, chilled and poured into a Duvel tulip

Appearance- Pours a golden copper colour with two+ fingers of bubbly white head that takes forever and dissipate to a nice thick ring around the glass and an equally nice bubbly head that never really goes away, leaving amazing lacing throughout till finish.
Smell- The aromas are very similar to its cousin pliny, lots of pine and resin aromas going on in the nose with lots of earthy hop aromas going on as well, and some citrus grapefruit smells in there.
Taste- Again very similar to its cousin pliny, although I don’t think as complex or as well balanced for that matter, just like the aromas there are lots of resin and pine flavours coming through, mixed with a more floral hop flavour on the palate, with that usual citrusy grapefruit flavour in there as well.
Mouthfeel- Medium bodied IPA, this is a very smooth and crisp beer, a little bitter at the start but somewhat mellows out as you sip on it a little more, nice refreshing beer on a warm summers night.
Overall- I know I probably shouldn’t be comparing this to a pliny, but it being from the same brewery I don’t really know what else to compare it to. Definitely not in the same league as a pliny but definitely does come close, a little more bitter and more resin and pine flavours coming through and not as well balanced as its cousin I found. It does hit every typical IPA note but that’s what separates this from its big cousin the pliny, whereas the latter has such a nice balance and some added unexpected flavours, this one just comes through with the typical IPA flavours, and punches you in the taste buds with them, very bitter beer all the way till finish. Very happy I got the chance to try this though and I would definitely drink this one again in a heartbeat!

Appearance: Poured a darker shade of gold, almost amber. Had a very small head that was gone within minutes.
Aroma: Had a very hoppy aroma which was very pleasant. The hops gave off nice aromas of both citrus and pine.
Taste: The flavor was what you would expect from a west coast style IPA, full of citrus notes and some good hop bitterness that lingered a bit on the tongue. A nice subtle malt backbone added to flavor of this delicious IPA.
Mouthfeel: Nice full-bodied beer that had a nice amount to of hop bitterness lingering on the tongue. Had a nice dry and bitter finish.
Overall: A great example of a west coast style IPA. Loved the citrus and pine aromas as well as the citrus and malt backbone in the taste. Easy drinking IPA as it does not have an overwhelming amount of hop bitterness but enough to taste and appreciate the hops. Very good brew.
