On draft at O'Brien's
Appearance is a clear amber hue, thin white layer of dense head, big thick lacing all over the glass
Smell is huge hops --grapefruit, pine resin, grass, lemon zest--, sweet bread malt tones linger in the background
Taste is moderate-full hop flavors, sweet grapefruit and citrus balance out the more bitter pine resin, hints of bread and grain malts are barely perceptible, finishes dry and bitter
Mouthfeel is full-bodied, thick and oily texture, moderate carbonation
Drinkability is high, great flavor and body for a single IPA at 6%, solid throughout, no glaring shortcomings for this style, definitely a favorite and repeat performer, this ranks on my short list of top single IPAs

Still another wonderful acquisition from BigStein88.
Love the name Blind Pig, the euphemism for speakeasies in Prohibition days. But yes RR also took it literally for chuckles, there is a drawing of a pig with dark glasses and a cane on the label.
Bottled 1/16/14. Not two months old yet.
Poured from the 16.25 oz. bottle into a Samuel Smith English tulip glass.
a: Crystal clear dark gold with a two inch tall white head which receded slowly to heavy rocky surface foam and patterned lacing. Required a couple of additional pours to get a pint of it out of the bottle.
s: Intense citrus and pine, DIPA strength aroma
t: Pine hops forward with medium strength over a mild malt base. First impression is it's a hop show. Balances out better by mid-consumption. Surprisingly little hop bite lingering on the tongue.
m: Slickly smooth, medium with good body. Ongoing carbonation tingle supplements the hop bite.
o; A highly drinkable and distinguished IPA. More hop power than many, although with all the new ones out lately, this little piggy risks getting lost in the wallow. Perhaps it had more punch when it was just-out-of-the-brewery fresh. May have to wait until my next trip to Cali to find out. Still and all and as is, exceptional for mouthfeel, balance and refreshment value, worthy of its current #101 spot on the BA top 250 brews.
