Damn i love this brew. It's my favorite IPA. Had it on tap at Hollingshead. Actually, it was served in a pig ie a mason jar which had the RR Blind Pig logo on it... pretty cool. Apparently a 'blind pig' was slang for some brew during the prohibition era. Something like that and i'm sure i'm not doing the description justice.
Poured vibrant golden straw color like pure sunshine on the wheat fields... with a good sticky finger of off-white head. Aromas were incredible. Aromatic in your face crisp mountain pine scent that envelops your olefactory sense like a brisk mountain wind off the himalayas. Very keen and penetrating goodness in the nose finishing with citrus blossoms.
Flavors of sun ripened pink grapefruit fill your mouth as if a wedge was squeezed on your tongue. Bold citrus with a tad of sweetness just dominate and play in your mouth. Very quenching and bold. Light medium bodied and crisp on the tongue. I could just drink this everyday.

Still another wonderful acquisition from BigStein88.
Love the name Blind Pig, the euphemism for speakeasies in Prohibition days. But yes RR also took it literally for chuckles, there is a drawing of a pig with dark glasses and a cane on the label.
Bottled 1/16/14. Not two months old yet.
Poured from the 16.25 oz. bottle into a Samuel Smith English tulip glass.
a: Crystal clear dark gold with a two inch tall white head which receded slowly to heavy rocky surface foam and patterned lacing. Required a couple of additional pours to get a pint of it out of the bottle.
s: Intense citrus and pine, DIPA strength aroma
t: Pine hops forward with medium strength over a mild malt base. First impression is it's a hop show. Balances out better by mid-consumption. Surprisingly little hop bite lingering on the tongue.
m: Slickly smooth, medium with good body. Ongoing carbonation tingle supplements the hop bite.
o; A highly drinkable and distinguished IPA. More hop power than many, although with all the new ones out lately, this little piggy risks getting lost in the wallow. Perhaps it had more punch when it was just-out-of-the-brewery fresh. May have to wait until my next trip to Cali to find out. Still and all and as is, exceptional for mouthfeel, balance and refreshment value, worthy of its current #101 spot on the BA top 250 brews.
