I'm lucky enough to have pretty consistent access to this beer on tap, but a trip to the Bay Area allowed me to grab a bottle and bring it home with me.
APPEARANCE: Pours into my Victory becker a hazy bronzed gold. A huge bone-white head sits on top and slowly drops to a rocky, large-bubbled cap with loads of lacing.
SMELL: No surprises here. Big aromas of citrus and pine just overwhelm... in a good way. The malt really struggles to find its way through, but maybe that's okay. The hops are the star for sure.
TASTE: A far more balanced flavor and the malt gets it's chance to be noticed. It's basically all sweet pale malt with a hint of toast and caramel. A firm bitterness backs it with the same pine and citrus grapefruit flavors coming to match, but giving a slightly sweet slickness as well. Very good and exceptional balance for an IPA.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium light body or maybe even lighter. The dryer the better, and this comes through. The carbonation is slightly low but still within limits.
DRINKABILITY: Very good. Several pints is the correct serving size for this, and I'm kinda bummed that I only have one.
A damn good beer for sure, but maybe not quite worthy of being in the top tier of IPAs. But I'll certainly never complain if I have one. This is definitely worth seeking out.

Poured a clear yellow. The head had great retention and left a decent lacing.
Aroma was very floral and a slight note of orange peel and grains of paradise.
Mouth feel was a little thin but the flavor is very bold. The flavor was piney, grassy with hints of black pepper and straw or hay.
This beer finishes very long and leaves a resin feel on the tongue, with notes of orange pith and kiwi rind.
