Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Dogfish Head Signature glass. Big thanks to my bro-in-law Jon for the fresh Blind Pig hookup. Bottled 4/13/12.

A: Crystal clear golden color. Mildly aggressive pour leads to a thick, frothy one-finger head that fades to wispy swirls. Lacing is not all that thick but is consistent.

S: Super sticky hoppy smell. Fresh grapefruit hop with pine-soaked resin. It smells as if I rubbed fresh hop oil in the palm of my hands and pulled it to my nose. Not to be outdone is the thick malt backbone big enough to balance such a huge hop punch. So delicious.

T: Follows the exact same road that the nose takes with huge citrus presence and grassy notes. Wonderful malt flavor profile here as well makes this beer so freaking delicious.

M: Creamy, sticky mouth coating of hop oils makes this a most excellent mouth feel. Perfectly carbonated and a perfect finish.

O: Absolutely perfect IPA. I don't think there is a beer that Russian River makes that even has a hint of suck. At one week and one day old it's at the peak of freshness and it's absolutely wonderful.

Bottle poured into a GI tulip

A - Soft golden glow. The beer is decently opaque as only a small amount of light shines through. Clean looking beer and slightly reflective. Poured a nice, rocky, pillowy, white one finger head.

S - Pineapple, lemon peel, and slight orange. Citrus is definitely the main profile in the nose. There is a slight bready malt that comes through as well. It just sits there as a slight undercurrent in the nose. This is definitely a nice, fragrant nose.

T - The first notes are citrus as I get lemon and orange peel. There is a nice bready, almost rye-like bread note that comes through in the middle and provides a good balance to the citrus flavors. The finish is a nice mix of sweet orange, bready malt, and slight hop bitterness that lingers on the tongue.

MF - Medium body with a light syrupiness to it. Has a nice carbonation that goes with it.

O - Solid IPA from RR. It is definitely good and easy to drink. However, while this is good, I feel like it is Pliny the Elder's little brother. It doesn't have the same wow factor that Pliny has that makes you want to have more and more of it.

Thanks to bbothen for sending this bottle from the Epic NFL Confidence Pool! Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into a Fat Head's pint glass.

A: Hazy gold, with a one-finger white head that has moderate retention. Good visible carbonation.

S: Tropical fruit and bright orange citrus hops up front, then floral hops, hints of sweet resin and just the faintest background of light cracker malts. Extremely nice.

T: Follows the nose - hop profile hits up front, with tropical fruitiness, floral and piney resin first. The combination gives a bittersweet impression as the fruit flavors provide a lot of sweetness. Then a modest light cracker malt flavor, followed by citrus rind bitterness and a touch of spicy hops in the hang.

M: Light body, good carbonation sensation, and the alcohol is very well-hidden.

O: Thanks to bbothen, I finally had an opportunity to drink Blind Pig and Pliny the Elder together - both under a month old. I think I prefer the Blind Pig in a lot of ways, which was a bit surprising considering how much I like Pliny. Very well done, and highly recommended. Excellent beer.
