Another "How the heck have I not reviewed this beer yet" review.

Six day old sample. Poured into a pint glass.

Crystal clear copper/orange pour with a massive scoop of off-white foam. Tons of lacing throughout the glass.

Aroma is a wonderful blend of citrus and light malt. Orange, apricot, peach, pineapple and mango. Pretty much insert any citrus fruit and you can whiff it. Some pine and malt as well.

The taste is, in essence, what an IPA should be. Hoppy up front with a big malt back bone. Big citrus and the right amount of bud-tingling hops. This has that. Mouthwatering buds well after the swallow. Makes me want more and more to quench that everlasting thirst. The swallow is almost like the licking of the inside of a grapefruit rind...not the outside.

Smoooth body to this.

Overall this lives up to the hype. Everything a West Coast IPA should be and more. Smooth yet bitter but not overly to take it to the DIPA level (that's Pliny's job). I noticed the price has gone up on this bad boy but still worth it to experience the show. Too bad the Blind Pig can't. Whaaa.

Had younger and elder on tap multiple times this weekend. I like Blind Pig more.

A- Darker golden hue. Minimal head for style with good retention.

S- Less hoppy, more basic IPA. Like the origins of IPA before the hop abomination.

T- Crisp, clean. Great tasting IPA. Really comes off as a APA with the lack of bitterness.

M- Pretty full bodied for a IPA. Very enjoyable.

O- Big thanks to my bro for sending this one out to me. Never thought that this would overtake Elder and Younger for me, but the profile fits my IPA wants more than the others.

The beer is a light clear golden amber color.

The aroma has grapefruit, pine, sweet orange, bright lemons floral, and a caramel sweetness to it. It does remind me of Pliny, but not as big. There's tropical fruit too.

The flavor has pine, huge grapefruit, some tropical fruit. The bitterness hits you first and then there's some sweetness, and then a slight bitterness lingers. Lots of caramel malt sweetness balances this beer out. The juicy grapefruit hits you initially and then rolls throughout the experience of the beer. Pine on the finish.

The bitterness stands out this more than Pliny. The body is medium. The mouthfeel is really light and delicate.

This beer is so darn easy drinking and clean. It has a lot of similarities with Pliny the Elder with its characteristics. It's a wonderful balance of bitterness and malt sweetness. Like it's older brother, this beer is all about balance and drinkability.
