Draught at the brewpub. Light yellow with a creamy white head. Clean doughy, bready malt aroma. Light bready malt profile with a surprisingly ample, spicy hop balance. Light bodied and crisp with smooth carbonation. Considering that this was the "lightly hopped" of their two blond ales, I was surprised at the nice, spicy hop flavor. Great balance, and somewhat reminiscent of a pilsener. Top notch choice for a session beer. (426 characters)

On tap at Russian River in August 2009.

A: Yellow straw with a nice, light white head and a good deal of lacing; carbonation visible in the brew's transparency.

S: Light and refreshing--some pilsner malt with a bit of citrus and is well-hopped for the style.

T: Slightly sweet with some citrus and earthy hops; nothing overpowering, but quite flavorful for the style.

M: Light bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

D: Excellent. Very sessionable and would love to be able to grab a sixer of this one. (509 characters)

On tap at the brewpub. Poured into a RR pint glass. Comes in at 4.5% and 33 IBUs.

A-Nice looking beer. It is a clear straw yellow with a one finger white head that sticks around. Lots of bubbles can be seen rising. Leaves some nice looking lace between sips.

S-It has a mild and clean nose. It smells like there is pilsner malt being used. There is some lemon zest in here also. Earthy hops and grain also can be found.

T-It has a honey like sweetness that hits fast. The lemon, pilsner malt, and earthy hop flavors also are there throughout.

M-Lighter bodied and very crisps and dry.

D-Low abv makes this a great session beer.

This is an easy drinking beer that is perfect for hot days or when you don't want your sour or hop fix at RR. This will please most people. (774 characters)

On-tap at City Beer.

I'm not sure how to judge this one, as I'm not familiar with the style. I just compared it to a pilsner.

A: Pours a clear pale straw color with an inch of off-white head. Leaves thick clumps of lacing down the glass.

S: Honey, grassy and lemony hops, and a little bit of grain. A broad and rich scent, but it's a bit weak in pungency.

T: A refreshing lemon-honey flavor with grassy and floral hops. Some grain and earthiness is found toward the end of the flavor. A clean and inoffensive flavor, really good for the hot day that I walked into the store.

M: Light-bodied. Nicely crisp carbonation.

D: Kind of a conundrum. This is a pretty good summer beer, but I've only seen it on tap, and I don't go to bars to drink light stuff. I guess if I saw it on a really hot day, I'd get it. But for my usual pub crawls, this is going to be skipped. (874 characters)

This is the classic example of the style according to BJCP

On tap at the brewpub following AHA-NHA conf @ Oakland, CA
Brilliant straw gold moderate white head falls to cap and collar sustained by carbonation.
A light grassy aroma from pilsner malt and herbal lightly citrus hops.

Flavor mostly pils malt with lemon, grapefruit hop notes.
Light to medium light body with citrus and wheat malt drying the finish.

This easy drinking style is quickly overshadowed and forgotten when you start working your way through the 20+ beers available on tap at the brewpub in Santa Rosa. (581 characters)

decent hop/malt taste, light-medium body, hoppy bite throughout the entire drink, malt and wood characteristics, straw gold color, very thin white head with delicate lace, malty, medium-long finish, good served cold, clear. not my style but okay for a starter beer on a warm day. (279 characters)

Part of the most wonderful beer sampler I have ever had, at the brewpub. Well worth the trip to Santa Rosa, and if I ever go out west again to visit my girlfriend's family, I am DEFINATELY going again. Just hope to go when Pliny the Younger is on tap.

This beer had almost no head, and a clear pale yellow body. I tried to go from what I expected to be milder flavors to stronger flavors, and this was one of the first I tried.

Aroma was of light pale malts, and a slight hint of hops. Couldn't tell which way the hops were leaning.

Taste started out with grapefruit hops, much more than the aroma led me to expect. A welcome surprise. Malts were present, but were very light.

Mouthfeel was smooth and creamy. Nice indeed.

Drinkability - hell, this was so easy drinking, I was done before I knew it. Quite excellent. (821 characters)

On tap at the brewery.

Poured a clear gold with very little head. A very nice blonde with a nice clean hop scent. Not overlydone though. It was a pleasant surprise for a blonde. Great flavor throughout and a nice hop finish! I could easlily want more of these as a everyday drinker, if the rest of there brews weren't so great.

Very drinkable blonde! (352 characters)

Enjoyable beer. Tap at O'Briens 15th, golden color, a bit cloudy? A bit of a whit taste to it. Dry finish. A little odd and I'm not a big fan of the style. Fun to try. Texture was a bit weird and not very smooth and or balanced. No Alc noticable so that wasn't an issue. (270 characters)

A: Clear light-pale gold with little to no head.
S: Little smell, some grains maybe.
T: Not much flavor either. Some hoppy bitterness. Maybe I am a bit biased, being around some of RR's much more powerful and flavorful beers.
M: Fine but nothing special; goes down pretty easy.
D: Pretty uninteresting and as such easy to drink. Probably won't get it again, though. (365 characters)

On tap at Russian River brewpub. Pours a very light straw colour, good clarity. Nose- light grassy and citrus. Taste- light bodied, medium carbonation, mild biscuit flavour with a lemon finish. Drinkability is very high given its session nature and its a good chance of pace inbetween big belgians or pints of pliny. Pairs well with the brew pub chow. (351 characters)

On tap at the brewpub.

Pours a clear yellow/light gold, thin white head forms, quickly drops down to a thin ring, some spots of lace are left on the glass. Smell is nice, sweet, honey like malts, grass, floral, some grainy and biscuity aroma, not exciting but nice. Taste is similar, some nice malty sweetness at first, grassy hops, some floral, light fruit, bit of a citric bitterness, toasty finish with orange peel. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation, very light and smooth and easy to drink. As noted, not very exiciting, but an easy drinking blond ale I would be happy to session all summer. (612 characters)

On tap at the brewpub during the RR 4th anniversary.

Pours a clear gold color with a sticky white head. Aroma is soft and citric. Flavor is lightly grainy with a lemony zing and a hoppy finish. Mouthfeel is semi-dry and the drinkability is off the charts. One of the most refreshing beers I've had. (299 characters)

This is a nice, light, yet very tasty, subtle ale that is full of flavour.

It is a bright, sparkling gold with a medium, long-lasting, creamy white head that leaves beautiful, even lace.

The aroma is very fruity with grain, crackers, yeast, and citrus.

The taste is light, crisp, exceedingly refreshing, and very smooth, but full of flavour and subtle complexity. It tastes of grain, fruit, citrus, yeast. It's a nicely balanced bittersweet beer with a faint yeasty sourness lutrking underneath. (498 characters)

Had on tap at brewpub in Santa Rosa. As expected, nothing remarkable, just wanted something light to start off the day before getting into the big beers.

A: Perfect clear golden, straw color with a large amount of carbonation and tons of small rising bubbles and a massive, frothy white head that is very retentive and leaves plenty of lacing
S: Light nose of grain and hops. Stronger citrus tones.
T: Similar to a good pils, hops are present, but not bitter and body has a citrusy/lemon flavor. Nothing remarkable, but very refreshing.
M: Light bodied, could have been a little more heavily carbonated for my taste.
D: Served purpose of starting off the day. Very easy drinking and refreshing. Nice balance between slight sweetness and hop taste but nothing overwhelming. (775 characters)

RR Aud Blonde is certainly "blonde", with a very bright yellow color. The scent is distinctly cirtus, which leads into a first sip which is immediately bright & lemony...almost brisk. It finishes with a tangyness and slight bitterness from the hops. There is a notable hop presence, which immediately differentiates it from a lager or other pilsner. It wasn't as carbonated as it could've been, which would be nice on a warmer day.
I would probably order it again, but likely as a lead-in to something else. (507 characters)

Got this on tap at the Brewpub in Santa Rosa. Came in a pint glass and was a clear yellow with a minimal head as are many pub pours. Nose of flowery hops and mild malts. Good clean mouthfeel. Nice flavors with hops sort of like a pils. Nice dry finish. Very drinkable. (268 characters)

Had this on-tap at my buddy's wedding.

A: Pours a pale golden color with a nice white head.

S: Some light malts and grains along with quite a bit of lemony citrus.

T: Light bodied yet quite flavorful. A very assertive hop presence throughout coming across the most stongly at the end. The middle is full of lemon and other citrus. I think that the fruits came across a little too sweet. All in all, a very tasty blonde.

M: Light bodied, very smooth and well balanced along with active carbonation.

D: Very high on the drinkability scale. I put down a bunch of these at my buddy's wedding with ease. This isn't the best beer that Russian River makes but it's quite good, especially for the style. (701 characters)

On tap at the brewpub.

Pale straw color with exceptional clarity and nice lacing.

Smells spicy and caramely. Not too complex.

Pilsner malt, minerals, spicy noble hop flavors apparent. Well balanced; not a lot of bitterness nor sweetness.

Very drinkable. This would be very good if it wasn't on the same menu as Pliny the Elder, Blind Pig, Damnation, Salvation, Perdition, and Compunction. (403 characters)

On tap at the brewpub...
Appears a transparent, straw gold with a small white head that fades into a mild cap and collar.
Smell is of light hay aromas dominated by pilsner malt and a mild hopping that is mildly herbal with a twist of citrus.
Taste is of pils malt with notes of lemon pledge and dishwasher soap followed by a sugary grapefruit wave that doesn't do much to make me want to like this beer.
Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with notes of citrus resonating and a touch of wheat malt thrown into the mix that leads to a dry finish.
I wasn't expecting much from this and I'm surprised I even reviewed it. I don't think I would've if it hadn't been made at the beer mecca, Russian River. (701 characters)

Pours pale golden with a light head.

Smell is of light hops and a metallic bite.

Pretty light taste, but very balanced. Slight spicy hop taste along with a malt sweetness. Very hollow flavor similar to a small beer.

Very light body and relatively high carbonation makes this quite crisp, a little too much so- not enough substance here.

Drinkability on a hot day is pretty good, but not lot to keep your interest. (425 characters)

This arrived as an attractive and glowing shade of gold. The head is minimal but present, and so is the lace.

The smell has an assertive hop presence, mostly in citrus form. Hops also come through strong in the taste, from the front all the way through. Malts are light and barely present in the face of those hops. The mouthfeel is light while drinkability is good. (369 characters)

07/30/06- On tap at the Russian River Brewery in Santa Rosa, CA...from notes taken earlier in the year.

Presentation- Via the tap into a standard pint plass.

Appearance- Somewhat deeper golden color. Very light cloudyness, otherwise pretty clear. 1/2 inch white fluffy head with nice streaks left behind.

Smell- A bit pils-esque. Has that mild grainy scent with some light fruity scents and a bit of hop tang.

Taste- Seems a tad salty? Otherwise it has a really good lemony flavor. Grainy background with a hoppier than expected flavor...well, maybe not, after all it is Russian River.

Mouthfeel- As stated before, a bit salty. Clean, crisp and refreshing. A bit on the higher side of the carbonation level.

Drinkability- Certainly one of the most flavorful blondes I have ever had, overall pretty tasty and recommended. (838 characters)

Had on tap at the Russian River brewpub. Pilsner-colored, clear blond ale. Neutral aroma, I had a tough time picking out anything. Maybe a subtle interpretation of a subtle style...

The flavor was more malty than hoppy, again faint. Easy to drink and could be sessionable, but mostly forgettable to me compared to the other beers from Russian River. Interestingly there was no sour component despite a lack of hops to cover up said flavor. So I guess they have good control over their Brett. (494 characters)

From my notes on recent trip, this beer pours a light golden color with no head as delivered, but spotty lacing here and there. Aroma is of citrussy, lemons and a slight malt floating around there too. Pretty decent. Taste is quite nice, an easily drinkable creamy smooth malt and lemon cirtus thats fresh and refreshing. At 4.5%, I'd drink this all night long. (361 characters)
