Taken from my notes...

Burnt orange, clear hue, no head. Nice clean malt aroma. very crisp flavor. Citrus hops in the flavor. Grain malt flavors blend nicely with the hops, which back it up. Juicy, light hop after taste, or is it the malt? This borders on the line of a strong best bitter. It's not as even as per say, a Magnolia brew, but it's alright. The malt character is bolder than I'd imagine. After having this beer sit for a bit some of the after tastes that I liked at first I began to dislike. Instead of a lingering good hop aftertaste the beer seems to get a second wind. Glad I tried this brew. I'm typically a fan of their nonbelgian brews, because it's a nice change of pace, this just isn't bad, just not my thing.

Growler purchased from the brewery. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a clear pale amber color with a thin off-white head that faded to a lasting collar.
S: Fragrant hops on the nose, floral and lightly fruity, with undertones of bready malts.
T: Follows the nose with flavors of bready crackery malts with the hops taking a back seat. I get notes of light pine and a bit of mineral water. Flavors are quick with almost no aftertaste. An extremely mellow beer.
M: Medium body, slick and clean mouthfeel with light carbonation. Light bitterness in the finish.
O: I thought the nose was way different than the mouth. A very light and quaffable beer, albeit light and a bit boring.

I noticed I forgot to rate this one. From my notes on my trip to Santa Rosa last spring. On tap at the brewpub. Came in a pint glass and was a clear orange color, with medium white head and light lacing. Good nose of light malts and floral hops. Mouthfeel was moderate and flavor was slightly bitter. Interesting and kind of different brew that was easy to drink.

On tap at the Russian River brewpub. Pours a clear copper hue with average head. Nose- caramel malts. Taste- toasty grains, and grassy hops. Average body and carbonation giving a nice smooth mouthfeel. Has a nice light hoppy finish. Drinkability is very good. Good quaffer

06/04/06- On tap at the Russian River Brewery in Santa Rosa, CA.

Presentation- Pint pour from the tap.

Appearance- Medium golden colored pour. About a 1/2 inch clean fluffy white head. Pretty decent lace streaks left behind.

Smell- Medium to a light caramel aroma. A good touch of pney hops comes through as well.

Taste- Refreshing caramel malt flavors. Maybe on the toasted side. Small fruity hop taste, but really not that bitter.

Mouthfeel- Medium to slightly lower carbonation. Longer than imagined aftertaste.

Drinkability- Pretty easy to drink. Has nice flavors, but nothing that really catches me and makes me say wow.

Enjoyed this as fresh as it can get, at the Russian River Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa. I love taking field trips...

It is light orange color and produced a nice head. The aromas are what is most interesting about this beer. Immediately I am struck by a smell that I have never experienced in a beer before - Blue Cheese. I am convinced it is not a flaw, it is the subtle combination of the malts, hops and yeast that created the slight blue cheese-like character that actually enhanced this beer. Imagine a nice hamburger with melted blue cheese on top, or even a cheese platter and crackers with this one, a perfect pair.

Flavors are good, slightly sweet malts and a little high on the alcohol, but all-in-all not a bad beer. I definitely would like to hear if anyone else got the same aromas as I did.

Served on tap at O'brien's TION night in a 10oz taster.

An interesting named pub beer, very light as a follow-up to Pliney the Younger. The British influence is definitely there - I mean, I tried this without knowing what it was and thought it was an IPA mixed with a British ale. Color is light orange/yellow, big white head, sweet malt, smooth and very drinkable (and low abv compared to many IPAs), but nothing too memorable.
