The cats meow. I love Russian River Sours. They are second to non. Temptation is my favorite in the line of sours but this one is amazing as well. A little bit of the old world funk, and some nice barrel flavor as well. They have also mastered the perfect sour taste. Not like Love Child where it taste artificial and just pure sour. I recommend this beer to anyone.

Pours a half finger of quickly-fading beige head, leaving a nice thin rim. Brew is a lighter, nutty brown; almost clear brown on the pour, but a solid, strongly translucent reddish-brown in the glass. Lacing is basically nonexistent.
Sweet yeast, wild funkiness, and a tart sour are all present: very complex. Difficult to identify many individual aromas: grapes, dark fruit, and wild yeast are most prevalent, with a slightly sweet and cheesy funkiness at the end.
Immediately sour, with a tartness that maintains throughout the experience. The cheese funk comes into play on the back-end. Red grapes and Cabernet Sauvignon are very apparent. There's a very light sweetness present, but the sour flavor is by far the most powerful and overwhelming.
Medium to thin mouthfeel, but with a nice oily residue. The tartness makes it difficult to drink this particularly fast, despite the mouthfeel. Slight sting; the sourness doesn't quite make me pucker, but it does wake up the taste buds throughout my mouth. Noticeable foaming.
I don't have a ton of experience with sours, although I've had a few wild ales. This is exceptionally well crafted and smooth. It might not be the most accessible sour or wild ale, as it's definitely not an intro beer, but it's so well made, it should be enjoyable even to novices (like me).
Thanks to JayORear for this trade!
