Bottle pour at Woodshop 8 held at The Hermosillo in Los Angeles, CA.

2013 vintage.

Pours a hazy light red with a foamy reddish-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour and tart with malt, raspberry, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour and tart raspberry flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty but has a slightly better sour raspberry quality in the aroma.

On tap at Toronado San Diego, poured into a small tulip.

A: Red-pink in color, clear, looks like ruby red grapefruit. Tiny effervescent.

S: tart, citrusy nose. Light, fruity.

T: super tart front, citrusy, rindy. Reminds me of sweetart candy. Could be a touch sweeter.

M: light, effervescent.

A little candy-like, not the most complex sour they've brewed, but this would make a great intro to the style. Of course you have to get your hands on it...
