HopTime Harvest Ale is a unique beer brewed just once a year using wet hops grown right here in Sonoma County. The exceptional hop aroma and flavor is attributed to the fact that wet hops are added to the kettle just hours after being harvested without being kiln dried. Additionally, we hold back a portion of the wet hops to add to the beer after the fermentation is complete to enhance the aroma even more. Distinctive aromatics and flavors from the wet hops differ from those found in dried hops because the volatile oils in wet hops are exactly as they were when hanging on the vine. Enjoy!

11/05/05- On tap at the Toronado Wet Hopped Festival in San Francisco, CA.

Presentation- via the tap into 6oz sampler glasses.

Appearance- Deep orange rust colored pour. Largest head out of any of the samplers. Leaves nice streaks of lace after the beer is gone.

Smell- As the same with many of the rest....nice fresh hop scent. Lots of grapefruit and pine to be had.

Taste- Fairly sweet in the hop dept. but not as bitter as expected. Grapefruit and pine jump into the frey. Malt then follows. A pretty dark malt at that. They work together oh so nice.

Mouthfeel- A tad bit of sugary mouthcoating with medium carbonation.

Drinkability- Vinnie does it yet again. One of the tastiest and most drinkable IPA I've had.

Bought a case of this on its Friday release in Oct 2022. Huge fan of RRBC, but NOT this beer. At all. Dated 30 SEP 22.

Nothing terribly interesting or tasty upon the first can, and now working through the remaining 15. Typical RRBC pale color and crystal clear appearance. Nice enough aroma, nothing breathtaking or notable here. Has a very boozy/beer taste that I do not care for.

If I could return it and get my money back, I would. Lots and lots of respect for RRBC, but NOT this beer.

Bright lemony nose with hints of fresh spring pine forests. Taste follows with candied lemon peel and sappy resin. Malt balances up front but the bitter and resinous quality builds up and lingers on the back of the throat. Nice beer, great wet hop expression by some west coast hop masters.

First consumed at the Single, Fresh, Wet & Wild festival. Heck, these days they're even canning this bad boy.

Pours golden, good clarity especially for a wet hopped beer. 1/2" white head. Aroma seems to hit on all the classic C hops. Despite the commercial tug job about more aroma from a wet hopped beer, it doesn't play out here or in most other iterations, wet hops just aren't as pushy as pellets that have been concentrated. There is more of an oily, green presence, yes, but overall hop aromatics, that's a no from me dog.

Taste seems to go much the same way, its beautiful in its fresh presentation of some classic hops giving all the green forest feels for days. Kind of the same way the Sssap series shows how great Chinook can be, Founders showing Centennial, Sierra Nevada with Cascade, they're all here and kicking butt. No tropical fruit notes allowed. Good minimalistic pale malt base keeps it rocking along to some west coast beats. How much pine and rind can you get down with? A substantial amount. Not necessarily "better" but different and still damn good.

On tap at the source. ABV listed on the board as 6.5%. Poured into a happy hour pint glass for $3.75, a clear pale yellow with a solid 1" thick white head which leaves nice rings. Aroma is mildly floral and citrusy. Flavor is green and fresh with a slight dank/leafy note. Bitter finish. A little thin, but enjoyed as a special seasonal treat.
