Thanks to a wino buddy that suffered the brewpub on her trip through Sonoma county to send this to me. That's a friend right there.
Batch 004x3. According to the website brewed in 5/08 and bottled in June this year.
Pours a golden sunshine yellow with hints of apricot, slightly hazy. A gentle pour brings forth a finger's worth of pillowy white froth with excellent staying power. As it finally falls it leaves a very fine and thin lace.
Aroma is tart and sour overlaying a fruity sweet bread. Sour green apples. The oak is present, but not overwhelming. Light orchard fruits. Undefinable spices.
Flavor is strongly sour. Puckering lemon sour. A pithy bitterness and oak come through in the finish.
Body is light, effervescent, smooth and silky. Finish is puckering and very dry.
This is a very well done Belgian blond gone wild. The aroma balances all the varied characteristics superbly. The flavor favors the wild bugs a bit more than I'd like, with much less of the Belgian coming through. But a wonderful deviation from my recent string of American styled brews.
