Pours a cloudy golden yellow with thin white head that turns into a filmy halo quickly. Moderate amounts of lacing.
Smell: Butterscotch, butter, wild yeast, and musty, oaky grapes predominate the smell. Light citrus, honey, apple, and vague spiciness present. General pleasant earthy, sour smell also. Very complex smell.
Taste: WOW. Very vinous in nature. Light caramel apple maltiness on the intial that progresses into a sweet and sour grape taste with a pleasant oaked taste. The wild yeast is definitely present but blends nicely with the overall taste. Smooth buttery taste with a light citrus hops. It really tastes as smells, but better. It is really the best of beer meets the best of chardonnay. Flavors and smell improved as it approached room temperature.
Medium bodied, very low carbonation. Excellent mouthfeel with nice transitions. Moderately slick and smooth on the initial becoming dryer then a brief fruity sweetness and great dry white wine finish. Alcohol presence is well balanced.
I could easily drink several glasses of this. Easy to drink. Sessionable, but I would want to drink it slowly to savour it. I'll take more of this anyday!
