12oz bottle from Hop City (Atlanta, GA). 12.99/ 4 pack. Red Brick still doesn't bottle date but this just hit shelves this week. Served in a Red Brick snifter.

Pours a beautiful transparent chestnut with a half finger of cream hued head which recedes to a nice sized halo and leaved some good looking lace.

Smells of toffee, caramel, bourbon and vanilla.

Taste follows the nose but with so much more. Toffee, sweet bourbon, caramel, oaky vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit, barrel char, earthen bitterness and a dab of booze. Very enjoyable layers of flavor that help the near-10% abv go down smooth.

Creamy-yet-oily, medium full body with mild-to-moderate carbonation. It has a nice weight to it that settles on the tongue and lingers with it's bourbon and toffee finish.

Red Brick has really been stepping up their game over the past year. This is one of the best beers I've had from them. Slightly bitter for an English barleywine but delicious and easy to drink. This one is worth seeking out to try.

Served from a bottle only a week after bottling. Smell is pronounced bourbon and oak upon pouring. Medium to small head and a nice dark amber color to the beer. More carbonated than expected.

The flavor follows the smell but is a bit more bitter. First thought to comes to mind is their 17th Anniversary beer, but this one is notably more bitter and has less vanilla. The bitter works pretty well at masking the alcohol and balancing out the bit of sweetness in the beer. I'm getting some char flavors too after each swig. They used these barrels for the 20th anniversary bourbon stout recently and you can tell in the flavor.

Overall, very tasty stuff and quite drinkable. Not quite what I expected but enjoyable nonetheless.
