First is one of the new Red Brick Beers, though there is a caveat when I say new. In the last few years, if not last year, Red Brick must have had a major crisis/overhaul. The result is rebranding from Atlanta Brewing Company, Relabeling, and the refreshing of many recipes. In fact on the website the Dog Days Ale is still listed as the Summer Beer. This being said the new version is really impressive as a wheat beer. The fruit zests come through clearly and the spices are right on. As opposed to the problem I mentioned in a previous post this beer is neither too sweet or too hoppy, while still not being to dry as a German Wheat would be. This is a great summer beer.

Red Brick Dog Days Ale has a the thinnest, off-white head and an initially clear, golden, bubbly appearance, with clouds up, once the caked bottom contents are swished and poured in. There is no lacing to speak of. Aroma is strongly of banana and maybe some white wheat bread, and the flavor is also predominately banana, with some background coriander, white bread, lemon, and a shade of bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Red Brick Dog Days Ale finishes crisp, refreshing, and enjoyable. Really good stuff!

From bottle bought at Knightly Spirits Kissimmee in August/2013.
A pale, clear pour with no lacing or head. Looks like apple juice within minutes.
Smell is nice, interesting. Floral hope notes, just the right amount....just a kiss.
Taste, mild malts balance the light floral hop notes. Slightly juicy. Refreshing.
Little aftertaste, nothing offensive.

Hard to tell it's even a Hefe. Just a basic craft with some interesting qualities, but nothing to write home about.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy medium straw yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass and some faint golden yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall sudsy white head that reduces to a mottled layer of thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of wheat with lighter aromas of lemon citrus and banana.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of wheat followed by some lighter flavors of lemon citrus and a light flavor of banana. Very faint hints of clove in the finish.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: Easy to drink and definitely sessionable due to the low ABV but not one of the most interesting hefeweizens that I have tried - a little too clear in appearance and a little lacking in the banana/clove aromas and flavors. It almost tastes like a light version of a hefeweizen.
