bottle into duvel glass
appearance: cloudy burnt orange with 1 finger white head, lots of lacing
smell: bitter earthy hops, apple, floral, some citrus, lemon, very subtle grapefruit
taste: follows the nose, eas expecting it to be more bitter by the smell, and it is a decently bitter beer, but it's a lot more balanced than I expected. Surprisingly smooth, this seems to be like a very underrated beer. Lots of floral notes with a lemony/apple like body that ends very refreshing.
mouthfeel: pretty thin body and average carbonation
overall: Pleasantly surprised buy this random buy at the beer store. Surpassed whatever expectations I had, this is a very very well balanced IPA with some great floral earthy hop action, but to overly bitter, just enough to satisfy a hophead but could also appeal to people who don't like the really bitter IPAs. Very refreshing beer, goes down really smooth, highly drinkable, will be buying again.

Poured into a standard pint glass a dull lighter golden with a nicely formed half finger white head that held well.Lighter herbal citric hop notes in the nose along with a firm malt base wich was not very sweet.citric and herbal hops are the main flavor nots, although not in your face they pack a nice little punch, mild biscuit malt notes underneath.Although not a big American IPA it packs enough hops to satisfy.

Maybe I did make the perfect pour, but this massive inch and a half thick, tightly knit eggshell colored head. Amber golden hued with a bit of cloudiness and some light suspended sediment. Brussels lacing. Not much in the way of hop aroma. I get some pale malt. The taste reminds me of an extra special bitter with light hopping and plenty of delicate malt. Mouth is over carbonated and chalky.

On tap at the brewery.
A clear amber ale with a durable bone-colored head. Excellent lacing.
Feel: Relatively smooth up front with a crisp, dry finish.
Bitterness kicks up in the finish and lingers on in the grapefruit-rind flavored aftertaste. Some malt flavor with little [it seems] balancing sweetness.
O: a fine-looking, West Coast style IPA.

A - Wow. Lotta off white colored head. 2+ inches worth. Slowly starts to fade. nice mixture of big fluffy bubbles and small tiny ones. Also a large amount of sediment. usually don't see this is an IPA. color is a organgish/red.
S - really awesome citra hops. apricot. citrus. grapefruit. orange. lemon.
T - Milder then i expected. Scent is better than the taste. That being said- it is still very pleasant. hops present a mellow bitter flavor. some orange and lemon. and not much of an alcohol taste.
M- viscosity is medium. can taste a bit of earthy bitterness for 30-60 seconds after swallow.
O- Good IPA. I like that we taste the hops not the alcohol. I would buy this again.

Many thanks to ahlthe3rd (Hugh) for the chance to taste this one. Always down to taste something new and hoppy! "Hoppier than a bullfrog with a stubbed toe". Awesome. Poured from bottle into my Victory tulip. Pours a super cloudy yellow/orange color. Lacing on this is phenomenal- all over the glass. Smell- citrus grassy hops, nice blood orange and grapefruit aroma, tropical mango/papaya. Really nice aroma here and great appearance. Taste- not what I was expecting from the aroma at all. A blast of bitterness is there, but it almost is mingled with a peppery/smoke flavor? A bit of astringency and possibly some plastic flavors on the end, but not a huge detractor to the beer. Super grassy hops here, it really dominates the flavor. This is a pretty interesting and unique beer.

Red Brick Hoplanta
12 oz. brown bottle, "BOTTLED ON: 02/06/14"... 4 months old
$2 @ Whole Foods, Tampa, FL
Appearance: Hazy, almost cloudy deep-amber colored body beneath a finger thick head of creamy off-white froth. The head retention is very good, and it leaves broken sheet of lace in its wake.
Smell: Citrus and biscuity malt. Some pine.
Taste: Rich. There's an initial sharpness to the hops but that immediately recedes into a pillow of rich maltiness. Honeyish. Floral. Piney. It's hoppy, but it's easy-going hoppy. Solidly bitter, as well, but the fullness of the malt holds up. Drying finish as the malt recedes. Lingering hoppy notes of pine, orange, and flowers.
Mouthfeel: Medium with a dextrinous character. Median, fine-bubbled carbonation keeps it crisp.
Overall: Pleasant and easily enjoyable IPA with a rich malt component.

A- Pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a nice off-white head with good retention and lacing.
S- The aroma is faint malt and citrusy hops. The aroma is surprisingly faint for an IPA.
T- The taste is dominated by the citrusy hops, there is not much of a malt presence.
M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a high amount of carbonation.
O- Overall, I was a little disappointed with this IPA. It is lacking a bit compared to some of the better IPAs on the shelves.
