It’s Hoppier then a bullfrog with a stubbed toe: Yup, you read correctly. Red Brick now has a year round IPA called HopLanta! Look for HopLanta in 1/2 barrels, 1/6 barrels and 6 packs. Be sure to look for it in stores and restaurants near you!

Poured in to a shaker pint. Cloudy amber appearance. Topped by a small white head with good lacing. The nose had a malty sweetness. Taste was bitter and dry, bland and boring.
Where did the hops go, Hop Lanta? All I got was malts. Mouthfeel was a little fizzy with a tart aftertaste. Once was a enough for me.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy, copper-toffee coloring with a thin, low profile, white head. Nose of rich caramel and toffee in the backbone, with a floral hops note, light citrus highlights, and a subtle bitterness throughout. Flavors are richly sweet and tangy forward, with a tart citrus and pepper spiced highlight. Balanced with a solid malt profile, leading to a tangy, slightly resinous aftertaste. The beer is mid-bodied, almost light, and slightly effervesced, with a jumbled, tangy, slightly dry finish. Not bad.

Pours an orange copper color nice head smells nice, hoppy clean. Taste is of light pine, citrus (lemon), really nice hop character, even getting some notes of iced tea in there. Mouthfeel is easy drinking and something I could drink a few of. Is it my fav IPA ever no is it something that I could session and have a few of? absolutely. Will buy again and really liking the overall ATL IPA scene these days.

A much younger me rated this beer 2.5, and I'm coming back to give this beer a better rating. Back then I thought it was so bitter that no one would ever be able to drink it. Now I think it is a nice, solid IPA.

Slightly cloudy amber in color. Forms a modest sticky white head. Good retention for what does form. Copious lacing. Aroma is a blend of caramel malts, bitter citrus and pine hops. Taste is more of the same. Rather bitter. Citrus zest, citrus pith. Maybe a little pine. Caramel malt. Medium body. Aggressive bitterness, bordering on soapy. A rather hoppy and bitter east coast style IPA.

Hop Lanta is an orange/tan colored beer with a cloudy body and a mildly citrus- like nose. The frothy off- white foam holds its own for a decent amount of time, but does settle down and it makes itself comfortable while leaving some lace.

This beer has a flavor of bread, citrus/orange, pine, and toast. The bready malts balance out this beer to a greater degree than others, making it a good choice for those who do not like or have grown tired of the over- hopped west coast style IPA. The flavor here bounces back and forth between citrus/fruit and bread/biscuits.

Big, hoppy IPA are nice from time to time, but there is nothing wrong with a more balanced IPA and that is what you get with Hop Lanta. The wording on the label exaggerates the hop flavor- it is not as extreme as the label leads you to believe. It is actually balanced out with the malts and made into an agreeable, more refreshing IPA that would make a good summer beer.

Part of a pickyourown sixer at albeit a bargain. Lets give this red brick selection a whirl. Popping the top I get a nice hop belt, classic citrus. Pouring into my trusty SAPP this brew is a deep bronze with a nice two finger off white fine bubble head. On the taste this brew is a very classic version of an IPA. Balanced and tasty, a good staple of this flavor. Nothing I would seek out but I would never turn one down.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with a thick one finger white head. Excellent head retention and pretty good lacing.

Aroma of earthy hops with some tree bark and a good bit of caramel. Maybe a little orange in there as well.

The orange becomes more apparent on the taste but there is still more earth than citrus. Some we tree bark along with caramel and toast. There is some pine that sneaks through but it remains restrained. Fairly high bitterness and a sticky sweeter finish.

Overall, an ok IPA but very run of the mill. Nothing to get really excited about here and not a beer I would really seek out on a regular basis.

Served in a bottle. Poured into Dogfish pint glass.

Appearance - Deep brown in color with a subtle golden and amber tint. Head is a bright with a a slight golden brush. Lacing is light and falls down the side of the glass as you drink.

Smell - Bright citrus with strong grapefruit notes. Mild earthy backing with some pine. Great balance of each note though. Enjoyed sticking my nose deep in the glass before each sip.

Taste - The citrus hops are right up front but slowly diminish and fade to the back. You're left with a subtly dry and caramel finish. From the smell I expected a bit more bitter in the taste, but was left a little disappointed here. Still a smooth, easy drinking IPA, but wanted a little more bite from the hops.

Mouthfeel - Very dry, and flavors leave quickly.

Overall - First time experiencing something from Red Brick. A well done IPA but felt it lacked a little in the taste and mouthfeel. A great IPA for kicking back and enjoying the summer. I especially believe this to be a great introductory IPA for someone looking to perhaps explore the type of brew.

Poured refrigerator cold into two pyramidal wine glasses. Consumed over 15 minutes.
A: Downright chunky debris, swimming opacity on a bubbly orange
S: Orange, bready. Hops more obvious in the flavor than the nose.
T: Early flowers droop into spice, but the whole taste folds early with late emergent bitterness. With warmth, there is a background of caramel apple that smoothes out the final sips some.
M: The chunks make one fearful of the impending feel, but there is an astringent zing of metallic fizz that’s holds interest.
O: Not thrilling, with a consistently bitter end that spoils it some on its own and what food one might add alongside. But not uninteresting—glad we met.

Red Brick HopLanta has a medium, off-white head, a hazy, orange appearance with lots of bubble streams (etched glass), some lacing left behind, and an enormous amount of fairly big, light gray chunks suspended throughout. The aroma is of full, sweet, citrus and white bread, and the flavor is of the same, with a heafty piney bitterness across the sip. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Red Brick HopLanta finishes semi-dry, sweet, tasty, and easy drinking. Overall, this is really nice.

Bottle poured in a Goose Island Glass

Appearance: light brownish, amber. Upon pouring the beer, it contained a one inch white head, but soon after pouring the beer the white head subsided to about a centimeter. I an also see small particles in the bottom of the glass from the hops itself.

The Aroma is sweet, yet citrusy and hoppy.

Taste: The hoppiness definitely cuts through on this one, but it's not bitter. It's very smooth on the palette and it goes down smooth. I feel a slight tingling sensation on my tongue, which must be from the citrusy bitterness contained and the alcohol, but the alcohol taste is not dominant. It's somewhat bitter on the forefront, but contains a sweet aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: I can feel the bubbly carbonation, but it's not thick. This one falls more on the thin side for sure.

Overall, I feel like this is an underrated IPA and not much attention is given to it as a result. This one is definitely one of my favorites beer; since I'm a hop-head, this is definitely my favorite style of beer, and I like the fact that Hoplanta goes down very smoothly. Perfect for those who dislike the bitterness from the hops, because you can still taste the hoppy presence, but the sweet malts added make it a very easy beer to drink.

bottle into duvel glass

appearance: cloudy burnt orange with 1 finger white head, lots of lacing

smell: bitter earthy hops, apple, floral, some citrus, lemon, very subtle grapefruit

taste: follows the nose, eas expecting it to be more bitter by the smell, and it is a decently bitter beer, but it's a lot more balanced than I expected. Surprisingly smooth, this seems to be like a very underrated beer. Lots of floral notes with a lemony/apple like body that ends very refreshing.

mouthfeel: pretty thin body and average carbonation

overall: Pleasantly surprised buy this random buy at the beer store. Surpassed whatever expectations I had, this is a very very well balanced IPA with some great floral earthy hop action, but to overly bitter, just enough to satisfy a hophead but could also appeal to people who don't like the really bitter IPAs. Very refreshing beer, goes down really smooth, highly drinkable, will be buying again.

Poured into a standard pint glass a dull lighter golden with a nicely formed half finger white head that held well.Lighter herbal citric hop notes in the nose along with a firm malt base wich was not very sweet.citric and herbal hops are the main flavor nots, although not in your face they pack a nice little punch, mild biscuit malt notes underneath.Although not a big American IPA it packs enough hops to satisfy.

A - Hazy goldish amber. Nice lacy foam with large pockets.

S - Clove, allspice, bready, wine-y. Good amount of grapefruit on the fruity side.

T - Resinous hop character: muted bitterness, grainy flatness, grassy, very faint roasted malt

M - Smooth and crisp, very clean and dry

Shows some signs of age, I would like to try it on draft fresh and see what is up after that.

So I bought a case of this as it was one of the few IPAS available in beer deprived (depraved) MS. We still do not have enough quality offerings via distribution here, as presumably most quality breweries have enough distribution already. Hopefully we will continue to gain in assortment.

On to this beer: I bought a whole case from my vendor without trying it first. Big mistake. The product pours so foamy that it will run out of a 24 oz. mug, just by decanting it (properly, as I am so very well versed). Next it is very malty, rather than hoppy in any sense of the word. Mouthfeel is of heft without redeeming taste qualities. Smell is not like Ruination or West Coast IPA--it is more like, well just a malt-bomb. Can't describe it better, sorry. Overall it is something I will never buy again, though it remains better than the macro-brews. I still have 5-6 left from a case I bought almost 6 months ago, and that is saying something.

Red Brick, you should go to school and fix this offering. In the words of Chevy Chase, "you're really not that good..."

Had the chance to try a couple of Georgia breweries recently and I would put this IPA in the top third from what I have tried. I have found a common taste thread in a lot of these beers that I think can be attributed to the water utilized. This one is worth a try if on tap but nothing worth going out of your way for.

A: Nice color with some legs to it; lighter than I would've originally thought.
S: Nothing special
T: This is where it distinguishes itself from some of the other breweries (e.g. Sweetwater). I was looking for some more hops and really found this flavor profile more muddy than most other IPAs.
M: this sits a little full and heavy for my liking.
O: As far as GA IPAs go this one is pretty good but nothing to look out for.

Hadn't seen this before and thought I'd give it a try. The little frog on the label was compelling. My overall impression is that it's kinda boring. Nothing bright, rich, deep, refreshing or striking about it. More of a slightly hopped up pale ale than a full fledged IPA. Citrus and tea flavor, more tea than citrus. The final note of bitterness is grapefruit. Glad I was able to try just one bottle. Might try it on tap.

Full disclosure, I'm a fan of just about anything brewed by Red Brick Brewing these days, but especially Hoplanta. This beer is an enjoyable IPA, nice hop on the front end, and not overly bitter on the finish, as are many west coast IPA's. Very good, well rounded beer.

Pours a hazy, copper color. Two inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, slight pine, sweet malt, slight alcohol, hint of caramel malt, and hint of sugar. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight pale malt, hops, pine, slight caramel malt, and sugar. Overall, good appearance and aroma.

A - Wow. Lotta off white colored head. 2+ inches worth. Slowly starts to fade. nice mixture of big fluffy bubbles and small tiny ones. Also a large amount of sediment. usually don't see this is an IPA. color is a organgish/red.

S - really awesome citra hops. apricot. citrus. grapefruit. orange. lemon.

T - Milder then i expected. Scent is better than the taste. That being said- it is still very pleasant. hops present a mellow bitter flavor. some orange and lemon. and not much of an alcohol taste.

M- viscosity is medium. can taste a bit of earthy bitterness for 30-60 seconds after swallow.

O- Good IPA. I like that we taste the hops not the alcohol. I would buy this again.

this beer is very good in my opinion. i had it on tap at a restaurant, Ive also had it from a growler, both have been very enjoyable experiences. first the appearance, it is a almost walnut brown color with a light tan frothy head that dissipates rather quickly. the smell is ofcourse hoppy with hints of smoke and maybe vanilla, the taste is hoppie and very good, almost spicy. the mouthfeel is very good and light. you can definitely tell you are drinking a beer in this case. i would suggest this beer to anyone who likes hoppy beers.

A: very pale amber colored with lots of head, but it disappears rapidly. 4--5

S: Very little here at all. A slight lemony citrus smell, and some apricot, but besides that, its rather weak. 2.75--5

T: Very strong neutral resinous hop bitterness. A small bit of apricot as well. Very drinkable as well, but their is something off here that I cannot quite place down. 3.75---5

M: Very thin and watery with a nice carbonated bite. Easy to drink, but it needs a bit more body. 3.25

o: Not a bad beer at all, but their are much better options for the price. I enjoyed this 12 oz bottle, but I am not sure that I could enjoy another one. Id say that if its on sale or discounted at happy hour (or a bar deal) its easily worth a try, but I would skip this one at full bar price.

Pours a light amber with lots of floaties. I don't have a problem with yeast particles.

Nice citrus hop aroma.

Bitter with metallic hop flavors that mix with some light caramel flavors and a hint of earthiness.

The mouthfeel is fine, not watery.

Overall this is a fine IPA.

This beer pours up a deep hazy gold with a massive head, unbelievable retention, and some of the modt elaborate lacing I have ever seen. Smell is pine, resin, and biscuit. Mouthfeel is pretty mild. Taste is some sweet malt followed by citrus and hops. Overall not bad, but not the greatest either.
