Thanks, cocoapuph!

Dark, murkey brown. Moderate levels of carbonation. Low to moderate stick. Not a particularly attractive beer, but I didn't expect a barrel-aged brown ale to look particularly pretty. Good enough, all things considered.

The aroma on this is fantastic. Lots of sweet, earthy, and bready malts combine nicely with a fairly dominant barrel character. Moderate oak, nice vanilla character, and a bit of the spirit as well. Very, very nice, and easily the best aspect of this beer.

The flavor somewhat falls apart, especially as the beer warms. There is some decent barrel character, but a lot of the malt character tastes old and stale, for the lack of better descriptors. There's a bit of an acidic character to the beer, overall, and quite a bit of oxidation.

Medium bodied with low carbonation.

I wish the flavor lived up to the aroma. Perhaps I should have opened this quite a while ago.

Appearance: Pours a deep murky amber with a small head that fades quickly, leaving solid lacing.

Smell: Bourbon, smoke, and a ton of malt. This is labeled an American Brown Ale but I get a lot of barleywine aroma here. Some dark fruits, more booze and a good deal of sweetness.

Taste: Very smooth with bourbon and oak up front but little alcohol burn, nice notes of malty sweetness and even some hops

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and smooth at 8.5% despite the alcohol in the taste. Drinks pretty easily for a bourbon barrel aged brew.

Overall: Very good beer here from Red Brick. I dig the barrel aging and would definitely drink this again.

Bottled 2012. Served @ 50F, into a snifter.

A: Thin, with needed coaxing and aggressive pour to her any head, which quickly dissipated to a thin lacing that did coat the glass.

S: Bourbon forward, much more than I remember from the one I had last year when I bought it. Somewhat boozy as a result.

T: Bourbon blast. Nice, smooth, no burn, and full of oaky goodness. This is way better than I recall.

M: Thin, and somewhat over-carbonated on the finish, although it is some what flat overall. Has a tingly finish that is different. The oak really coats the tongue.

O: Love this, will look for more if I can, to place in the cellar and see how much more it develops.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a Red Brick snifter. Served north of º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Light creamy head over a dark brown body medium haziness, moderate relaxed carbonation. Lots of sediment & settled yeast. 3.25

(Smell) Cacao nibs, chocolate milk, medium toasted caramel, mellow warm coffee notes. Solid roasty flavor, warm and inviting with a medium potency. Mellow booziness and a pinch of oak. 4.25

(Taste) Mellow roasty caramel malts, oak chips, hints of hints of vanilla and mild boozy finish. A touch sweet, but not cloyingly so. 4.25

(Mouthfeel) Slick texture, moderate carbonation for a touch of airy crispness. Medium alcohol presence, medium/heavy body. Nice balance. 4

(Overall) overall this was a pretty enjoyable beer overall. The flavors were complex but none of them overdone. A really tasty brew and I'd certainly recommend to anybody interested in barrel aged beers for Georgia. 4
