super clear, light straw. medium carbonation, big-bubbled head lasts exactly one minute. smell ... first thought is a little hot springs, sulfur funk, although it is fighting with some great hoppiness. now, going back for more sniffs, i don't get so much of that. i smell a rather uninteresting but inoffensive brew.
sipping this brings a surprise, an almost full-body flavor and mouthfeel. not what i'd expect. it is probably because i had asahi super dry with dinner (father-in-law). yes, that must be it. anyway, it's not bad.but taste is pretty one-dimensional and forgettable. the more i think about this beer the harder it is to distinguish from other j-macs.
like bonne bier, canadian malt, and so many beers available everywhere in japan, this might be a nice occasional change from the standard.... maybe.

Thin-looking gold body and a nose nearly absent of any sort of hop character. Taste is thin as well -- and wholely unremarkable, if not too unpleasant. Little malt or hop presence in the mouth or aftertaste.
Definitely a gimmick beer, meant to compete with the obviously "German" offerings of late by the other Japanese macros. Also definitely a failure, not even achieving the hop aroma that it purports.
