Three blocks from my apartment is Stone's ... they have a decent variety of microbrews that lean toward the local end of things (victory, dogfish head, wayerbacher, stoudts, yards) but also has some others (allagash, magic hat, rogue, anchor steam, etc...) ... the special part of stone's is the variety of belgians in stock (st bernardus, delerium, piraat, chimay, la chouffe, dupont, kreik, and more)

The prices are competitive and the selection varies from visit to visit. All said its the best place in the city to pick up some cases if you cant make it to Bella Vista or don't have the time to get out to the Beer Yard in the burbs

As i tend to purchase more bottles for personal consumption, I find most of my visits are pre-family and friend events for decent craft cases.

A more then decent selection of macro, and macro-imports takes up a majority of the space here, as i'm sure its their bread and butter. One isle features a mix of about 40% local craft and 60% domestic craft. If its local, there is a great chance they have a decent number of cases here. The remaining domestic crafts can be hit or miss - lots of mixed and sampler cases of above average brew. Ocassionally a gem can be discovered - 3-5 cases of Founders always seem to be on the shelf with some of their more in demand beers popping up ocassionally. A mix of above average English and Belgian beers can also be had.

Slightly disjointed layout as the English beers are at the end of a predominately American isle, while the Belgian is in the middle of the store, past some macros.

No one wandering the isles to answer any questions, but over the phone and at the counter they are helpful. Prices are a touch on the high side, but it is the city.

This used to be my go to distributor because it's in my hood and has a pretty decent selection but I tend to buy more singles these days. Also, there are a few better options for cases that found lately that I tend to go to instead.

They have a good selection, especially of local and other American craft and Belgians. Not much else in the import selection other than the standard German and British offerings. The selection and overall quality of this place went way downhill after a recent change in ownership but has greatly improved in the past few months. I miss the random cats roaming around though.

I can't really comment on the service because I've never had any here. You just pick out your case and bring it to the check out up front. The people working there seem to be friendly and pleasant enough though.

I love these guys. They have a good selection of mixed cases and a nice selection of craft brews in kegs right on hand. You can always count on finding something by the locals on short notice - Victory and Yards particularly. But where they really shine is in their willingness to order something special - if it can be had in Pennsylvania, they will get it for you in kegs. And usually in just a matter of days. The staff is friendly and helpful, the prices are good (the case prices match up well with nearby Delaware and New Jersey) and they do deliver.

Very pleased to be the first to review Stone's! Located on a non-descript section of Spring Garden St. Stones is one of the hidden gems of Philadelphia. It may not have the incredible selection of the Beer Yard just outside the city, but it consistently maintains a wide selection of local beers and seasonal brews while also showcasing a mild engagement in wider areas of micro-breweries. They don's have many micros outside PA. Stone's has a surprising selecton of Belgians, German and even French beers. They don't have everything but in cases they have more than most and always at a head-scratchingly low price. Remember that PA has rediculous beer tax so prices are a little higher than other states anyway. Check this place out!
