22 oz. Almost black pour, tanish head. Roasted coffee and malt nose. Roasted/burnt malt, espresso like flavors with a little bitterness. As it warmed just slight hints of cocoa. Rather dry, somewhat chalky finish. A dry stout, I think this is how it's supposed to be. To make it simple, I thought this was an better version of Guiness. Excellent drinking beer.

Bottle from Boise Co-op. Dark brown / black pour with medium fluffy beige head. Aroma is tight in the wheel house for a stout, roast grains and burnt toast. Taste continues, but true to the style, it dries out in the finish.

650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Pitch black colour, moderate to low tan head. Nice roasty aroma of dark malts and coffee, with hints of dark chocolate and ashes. Dry roasty flavour, dark malts and mild coffee, not very complex, but straightforward and pleasant to drink.

From notes taken 06/12/17:
Dark brown with deep red hues, just barely clear in direct light. Foamy, fine, uniform head of moderate retention, a creamy brown in color, perfect contrast with the body. Aromas of coffee roast, freshly mixed cement, faint second-hand smoke. Palate is even more tobacco, some soil, a tart smokiness, and a metallic character which could be the hops, which are otherwise more earthy in the finish. Less complex but more balanced and robust than the Guinness equivalent, eschewing the good but arguably overwrought molasses and vanilla qualities for something that better lives up to the name of a Dry Stout. I don’t generally rate by style guidelines, so that is not the issue in that comparison. I just prefer something like this. Sweeter beers with strange notes are great when the alcohol is extra high, but otherwise they are just alright. Has nothing to do with hops, which can be hit or miss regardless of the amount. Barely full-bodied, with a soda-like prickly spritziness, albeit softening and smoothening much faster, to lighten it.

Drank (some of) a bottle that seems to be infected - at least that the most charitable thing to think.
Appearance was dark brown, nice velvety head with good retention.
Aroma was tart cherry cola with wet grass and straight up vinegar.
Taste followed the nose with that tart cherry cola flavor only further enforced by the presence of an incredibly high carbonation. Some chocolate and roasted malts still come through the nose but there is also a strong acidic character to the flavor.
Feel was incredibly carbonated - clearly overly so. Very dry finish.
Overall this beer clearly has something wrong with it. If I can land another bottle, I'll happily give it another shot.

The brew is served a nearly pitch black color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good level of spiderweb lacing behind. The aroma overall is rather light with some hints of roast, coffee, and cocoa. The taste is fantastic. It starts nice and roasty and remains so throughout the taste. Along with the roast, is a good deal of coffee, which starts out very strong, with it fading just a little bit as the flavor profile moves on. Other flavors of a light earth and herb hop meet the tongue at the end of the flavor profile, leaving a nice roasty taste to linger on the tongue. The mouthfeel is quite nice as it is slightly thicker and chewier, which for the dark, dry, and roasty flavors is very nice. Overall this is a well done dry Irish stout. It's deep and roasty, all while maintaining a great drinkability.
