On tap at Ashley's in Ann Arbor. Served in a 9oz tulip.
A: This poured an imperial gold. A fairly dark DIPA, it looked pretty serious. Not like your typical DIPA because of how heavy and dark it was. There was also a very nice looking tan head about an inch and a half thick.
S: Big hop smell along with pineapple, grapefruit, apples, earth, pine, citrus, etc. All of the above really. You can tell it's going to be a bruiser.
T: Very floral and earthy. Lots of hops and citrus on the back end. Malts seem to dominate at the beginning but it's a very balanced DIPA. The taste of this beer lives up to its unique name. It is basically a hop popsickle.
M: Medium to medium heavy mouthfeel. Fairly heavy and carbonated in the mouth but that's expected with a big DIPA. It really helps the beer big time in my opinion. It makes it feel even bigger than it already is. Great mouthfeel.
D: Very drinkable for being such a big bruiser of a DIPA. I only had 9oz but I could have drank a couple more without a problem.
Overall, great beer. I've been waiting to try this for a while so I was all jacked up when I saw it was on tap. Great tasting, looking, and very drinkable. Cheers to this one!
