Poured from a deuce-deuce into a tulip glass.
Appearance: The beer is a heavy amber color with some moderate carbonation visible through the glass. The head is amazingly rich and frothy; a soft, eggshell-white color with excellent retention. It sticks to the sides as it attempts to recede.
Smell: Rich. Pumpkin, flowers, honey. A gentle toastiness underneath.
Taste: BAM! Motherload! A small sip packs a powerful punch; lots of very floral hops with a honey-like sweetness, then an exhilarating hop bitterness followed by a smooth, creamy malt character with hints of carob or vanilla. A little too much for me at this late hour, but absolutely one of the best crafted beers around.
Mouthfeel: Very tingly. Beer explodes with carbonation on the tongue, and mellows into a layer of thick foam after a few moments of quaffing. Aftertaste is all bitterness.
Overall: A tremendous (if not over-the-top) beer.
