Wow, a lovely attack of hops as soon as I uncapped the bottle. Pours solid, deep gold with a slow-rising head that barely pulls above half an inch and is ashy white (not as bad as it sounds) in color. Smell: deep and thick waft of hops: pine resin, grapefruit, lemon, fruit cake! some melon juice sweetness in there as well -- huge! Taste: wow, so sweet upfront, like biting into a fresh slice of honeydew; around each edge of my palate come two strong slugs of piercing hop love, followed by a third wave of bitterness straight up the center of my tongue and around the roof of my mouth, backed up nicely by a caramel malt sweetness. This is a monster. Mouthfeel is light, but just heavy enough. Plenty carbonated.
For such a beast, this is well-balanced.
I should note, yeah, I feel some alcohol heat going down, but it's so well masked under the killer onslaught of hops and that perfect malt backbone.
