on tap at Uncle Mike's Highway Pub in Kenosha, Wisconsin. pours a rich amber color into a snifter. two fingers of eggshell colored tight head that has great retention and leaves pillowy lacings. nice.
aroma has lots of concentrated hop oils, mainly coniferous with a bit of citrus mixed in. some pale malts get lose behind the piney hops, but do impart a subtle sweet note that attempts to balace out the hops. very thick and concentrated in the nose.
taste is thick with bitter hop flavors; less piney than the aroma would suggest. finishes on a dry, bitter note with residual hop oil dryness.
mouthfeel is good. very bitter and dry with a drying finish that leaves the palate sticky. wonderfully bitter, but could be backed off a bit.
drinkability is good. the hops are sticky and concentrated enough to stand up to other DIPAs, but in the end a bit more malt would do well to balance it out more. otherwise it is a solid DIPA. cheers!
