Had this one on tap up at Moylan's and now I'm having it from the bottle. A little more heady and hoppy on tap, this one's maltier and more rich.
Poured from a bomber into a belgian gobblet. Appearance is pretty standard, nothing fancy. Deep caramel brown. Light one-finger head settles quickly, carbonation and lacing are decent.
Smells crisp and refreshing. Fresh green apples, cinnamon, caramel, and brown sugar. Subtle hints of citrus malts and ginger. Very sweet and aromatic without being overly so. Taste is rich, creamy and sweet. Very nice. There is a mild sour fruityness from the booze that is offset perfectly by sweet molasses and a sugary malt backbone. I can feel the booze but I can't taste it. Excellent. Cream and butter round out the pallate and a gentle bitter hop grassyness adds to the complexity.
Mouthfeel is moderate; light and a tad watery. Not very much carbonation, but this works well with this style as it lends to its "wine" side. Drinkability is excellent. Another great brew from Moylan's.

A: Pours an amber/red color, opaque with a tan head.
S: Citrus and fresh orange in a faint nose.
T: Nectary, cherry, citrus, plum, fig, raisin, decent malt backbone.
M: Full bodied and fairly smooth.
O: Definitely recommended. I'd love to try the barrel aged version.

Old Blarney pours a reddish color with a small lacing head. There is a fruity, and dry like aroma. The taste is dry, with a dry fruity flavor, and a mellow malty sharpness. Very easy to drink good full body. Overall its a solid barleywine however a bit on the boring side.
