Pours a lovely hazy amber with a fluffy two finger off-white head into a snifter. Some mild lacing on the glass as it empties.
Nose is piney hops with some citrus and a caramel malt backbone. A little bit of alcohol warmth and some astringency comes through as it warms.
Mouth is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Hop oils throughout make this silky and smooth.
Taste is a nice bitter hop kick. Pine and a bit of citrus. A bready roasted caramel malt backbone keeps things in check while adding some sugary sweetness up front. Little bit of alcohol bite as it warms. Hop bitterness lingers for a tad after it goes down.
Drinkability is high for a double IPA. The balance of both the flavor (malt/hops) and mouthfeel (medium body/carb) keep you coming back for more.
Overall this is a really nicely done DIPA. Well balanced and full of great hoppy flavor and aroma.
