Clear amber red with crazy-sticky cream colored head. Plenty of spiderwebs make their way down the side of my tulip glass.
Smells: pine, citrus, candied pineapple.
Tastes very bitter up front, then becomes citrusy, piney, floral and tropical fruit-y. There is no doubt that this brew has enough hops to go around, but it's nice to see that it also has a formidable caramel malt backbone. Mid-swallow is where the best flavors come through, but they are a bit too brief. Strong alcohol heat on the finish drowns them out. However, even after the alcohol fades from the palate, the yummy hops flavors linger. Very nice.
This beer is medium bodied and has the perfect amount of carbonation.
Surprisingly enough, it's very drinkable even in spite of the strong alcohol flavor. This is an extremely well-made DIPA. I actually prefer it over their Hopsickle. This beer should satisfy any hophead.
