From latiendadelacerveza. On Bavaria glass. Watching Silicon Valley 1x05. My first roggen. Reminds me a hefe but with more caramel flavor. Very drinkable and pleasant even being 2 months before BB date. Not much foam.

Appearance: Dark brown body with medium head that dissipates quickly
Aroma: roasted malt, yeasty, cloves
Taste: Creamy, tart, roasted malt with smooth finish; well balanced with sweetness and hops
Remarks: Only Roggen I've tried. Really good.
Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Oxblood with creamy steady beige froth. Yeasty banana and clove nose - so far, so dunkelweiss.
Apple cake and banana bread, a spicy rye hit, and winter spice hops end with a touch of grass.
Kola nut and salty caramel comeback and numbing tingly linger. Crisp, very fizzy, light yet chewy .
Perfectly nice - plenty of spice, decent body, reasonable depth. Just not especially a rye beer. No closer to having insight into this style...

50cl bottle poured into Spaten seidel
BBE 26 Oct 2011
A- Mahogany brown body with ruby highlights, excellent clarity. Head is initially 3 finger and thick but reduces quickly with little to no lacing.
S- Light clove and banana notes, hint of peppery spice.
T- Light weizen notes - clove and banana. Hint of tanginess from the rye in the medium dry finish. Overall a bit thin in the flavour profile.
M- Medium body and high carbonation. Refreshing.
D- A light refreshing profile, just a bit thin in the flavour profile and poor appearance - possibly due to age. Will need to revisit with a fresh version

Had high hopes for this when it was bought and a lot of preconceived notions of what I was getting myself into.
In the bottle this had a restrained and fairly deep rye aroma which is savoury and builds expectation. Easily pours a one and a half inch tight tan head. Crystal copper/reddish colour with a degree of orange sparkle.
Taste-well, lets just call it pretty hollow. So disappointingly little stuffing that it borders on anorexic. There is a slight trace of dark mealiness but in general it is just dominated by a flavour of bubble gum. Ends with a degree of sweeetness but it just lacks density, weight and substance.

16.9 oz dark brown bottle. Freshness date on label.
Served in a 20oz nonic tumbler.
It pours a cola-shaded dark amber color with a fast-foaming, yet fast-fading off-white head. Some sticky and webby lacing last halfway through the glass.
The aroma is at first wet malty, then the smell of rye crackers push through. The light smell of mixed fruit with a little citrus and dried flowers fades in and out. A faint whiff of white rum is noticed, as is a little fresh cut grass.
Tastes of fresh rye, dried malt, caramel, figs, peppery spices, ripe pear and resinous hops (in that order) come through separate, yet balanced nicely. Just a touch of metallic tang is revealed in the aftertaste. A hint of dark rum comes out in the breath.
This a is very nice summertime beer. It starts out dry in the finish, then more full and wet as it warms.
Great BBQ beer!
