I stopped into the bottle shop today looking of some micros or local brews. Found no locals and very little for micros. They had about 3 coolers full was all.

Was pretty disappointed however I am from Denver were beer is a culture! So I can't fault them to much. They probably have the second largest selection in the area.

I did notice that they had several imports that were stored hot on a rack of shelves. I guess warm beer is better than no beer.

All an all, I decided to settle for a soda and go elsewhere.

This liquor store is attached to the Sun Mart grocery store but there is a separate entrance for the alcohol (and you can’t get to it via the main store). This is a pretty decent sized liquor store with most of the space devoted to liquor and wine. It was very clean and there were many employees, nobody asked if I needed anything however. Plus there is plenty of parking outside.

The cooler on the back wall is about half full of American macros. Moving on. The imports are slim, Paulaner (Hefe, Pils, Doppel), Guinness, and one or two other breweries. The micro selection is workable and very good considering this is Kearney. They had three offerings from Empyrean and New Belgium. Breckenridge was represented with four styles and Odell and Boulevard had two offerings each. Sam Adams was noticeable as was Pyramid and Shiner. They had a few bombers of Platte Valley. I’d say there was another five or six (at least) other craft/micro labels.

Most of the beer was in cooler or along an adjoining wall but I found a few small displays of beer throughout the store, so look carefully!

This liquor store is not a destination type of place but it is an oasis if you’re in Kearney for a long period of time (and you’ve drank Thunderhead and Platte Valley dry!).

A solid beer store, and one of the best places in Kearney. The selection is pretty great for the area, their are a lot of good selection: Imports, American Micro's, Local Micro's (Platte Valley Brewery, Kearney).

There is one better place in town, that i have found, when it comes to specialty beer: Belgians in particular, but Sun-mart Bottle-shop takes the cake for quantity of drinkable beer. The liquor selection is pretty good also.

NOTE: Although this is Sun-mart's liquor store, you can not get to it from inside the grocery store, it is an attachment to the building, to the left(south) of the grocery store's front doors.
