Ordered up a pint of this one last night...described as an "out of this world " amber on the beer menu.
I nearly cringed as I watched the bartender take a glass out of the dishwasher, fill it with water and then dip the glass into the tub of ice to basically freeze the glass....why must you prevent me from tasting your beer?
Rust in color with a full finger of off-white head...very quick to recede and no lacing surviving the freeze.
Not much in the nose until it warmed up...caramel malt with an allspice aroma that left me wondering what I was about to enjoy.
The flavor was received much better as it worked its way to room temperature...duh. Definite spice, although not really allspice in the taste...more of what you'd find in your typical winter ale.
Hop profile was not an onslaught to the pallet, as the brew was not agressively bitter, but did have a nice hoppy snap and a dry finish with no taste of the alcohol.
Mouthfeel was medium bodied and the carbonation was a touch high.
A nice beer to try on my first visit and would enjoy again.

Poured reddish hue with head dropping fast into mini heffe glass by "conceptiere" Dudley Cates on Spring 08 Long Island Craft Brew festival. Dudley mentioned that Mark from Bluepoint took the concept and made it into a regular for them for a period of time. Hops are from actual English fields where crop circles are located.

Smell and taste was of caramel and pale malts with malts coming in aftertaste for the most part. Was 6.7% at the festival.

Got this at a great beer bar in New York, Stanton Public.

First off, this is not an American Double IPA. The name of this beer is not even Crop Circle. It's actually Crop Circle Amber Ale. I think you can guess what kind of beer style this actually is.

Served to me with little head. In the center it looked blood-red with some brown color, and just a deep red around the edges.

The smell was crisp and clean: toasted malts with that sweet edge that is found in amber beers, maybe caramel.

The taste was solid: the first few sips, what stood out to me was how the hops gave the beer an surprising earthy kick. But as I sipped on, and the beer warmed up a bit, the malt flavor really came to the surface. It was a warm, sweet, and nutty.

Average carbonation, maybe even a bit too carbonated, but the beer still went down smooth and tasty. The brewers did an excellent job balancing the sweet malts with dry hops. Recomended!

The beer poured an amber-red with very little head. Smell was almost non-existent, with a slight hint of fruits and malt. A little dissapointing in that regard.

The taste was a mix of dark fruits and malt, with a slight hoppiness at the end. There is a very sweet taste that lingers afterwards, and at only 7%, it's pretty weak for a Double IPA. You don't get the extra kick you're expecting.

The mouthfeel was clean, and finished smooth. It is still a very drinkable beer, if a little on the dissapointing side. Would have another though.

Poured a sparkling amber hue with a two finger foamy head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell was upfront malty. There was a distinct grainy sweetness early on, followed by a strong citrus hop aroma.

The taste was very clean. A strong citrus bitterness, balanced by a definite grainy sweetness. An excellent balance. There was a nice spicy and dry finish.

The mouthfeel was full and clean. There was proper carbonation.

Overall an excellent beer . Very drinkable. An impressive ABV, considering the smooth taste.
