Craftshack is a separate entity within Windy City which will soon be opening up their own storefront. We have three experiences with Craftshack, all good. Firstly, somebody nearby grabbed a series of BA Stones for us and mailed it himself (good thing as it was sold out that day). Then a few of us in Canada ordered a box sent to Buffalo which we picked up and it was well packed without substitutes. The third was a small box Julian quickly got to me by FedEx (special request) in Buffalo, as I was travelling in with only a week's notice. A great way to get hard to get smaller California selections that do not make their way out Northeast.

Placed an online order. Very good online selection with reasonal prices. Constant email contact with Julian. Order was processed and received in a timely manner. Very reasonable shipping cost. Ordered beers I cannot get in my state. Will definitely order from again.

Came here with a friend of mine. He purchased some bottles the owner recommended as far as his favorite IPA. I thought they were crap! My friend liked them I won't say which, but it's a hidden message. I'm a big fan of sours and fruit beers and I noticed they carry jolly pumpkin. I was getting ready to pay when I was recommended something that was not on the shelf yet. Jolly Pumpkin Sobrehumano 4391. Holly shit this beer is good. I can't even begin to describe. It's much different than the other JP I picked out (artisan golden ale), but I loved it just as much. Really wish they brewed this all year long.
This place rocks largest selection is east county hands down and recommend it to anyone in the area.

Really cool place. Julian the sons owner who does all the beer ordering says they're remodeling and getting a deli inside. Can't wait! As far as the beer shopping went it was great Julian helped out a bit and recommended a few. One being Knee Deep Simtra. I really liked this one though it was a bit to citrusy, but not overwhelming. Also picked up a new BRUX sour and he recommended letting it sit for a little because it was too young and it needed a little aging. Seems to know a thing or two about beer. Would recommend this place for anyone in east county or anyone looking to order online.

This place has it all. From specialty beers to your average craft brew they have it all. Its pretty much in the heart of east county which helps too because so much of my time is spent in that area. Hands down the best selection. They have "Pliney the Elder", and just about every Alpine beer possible. I was really amazed with how many belgians they have in stock let alone cold in the cooler. There prices are reasonable and Julian is very knowledgable when it comes to beers. He definitely gives you an honest opinion which gets me to come back. They easily have over 500 beers and he says there only going to get more. If your in east county this is a must stop and see liquor store and beer superstore!

Go ahead and file Windy City Liquor as yet another liquor store that looks normal on the outside, but is filled with some beer goodies on the inside. It's actually quite roomy in its interior, and the beer is located in coolers. I did find a few beers that were getting old, however in my case, grabbing a one year old Oak Aged Yeti may be one of the occasional cases of age being a non-factor. In addition to Great Divide, Lagunitas, Lindemans, Kwak, North Coast, Fullers, and much more are available to purchase. It doesn't stand out among San Diego area store, but Windy City still has a respectable inventory that should make beer drinkers happy.

Every time I have been into Windy City they always have what I am looking for. I know I can always count on Windy City to have my four packs of Duvel at a very reasonable price and can score some gems every once in awhile if I beat ZXChris to the punch...wink wink...
If you happen to be in the neighborhood I would recommended this store to anyone who is in need of a good quality beer at a great price. The service is very friendly and helpful as well. If they don't have what you are looking for at the time they are willing to order it for you and place it on hold.

Windy City is right around the corner from me so I visit them quite often and get some pretty decent brew. The employees are very friendly but not necessarily the most knowledgeable about beer. They have a really good selection but not the best selection. They always seen to have Pliny on the shelf. They've got some 2008 Angel's Share still sitting on the shelf. I purchased some Stone RIS, Double Bastard that already had a year on it and Veritcal Epic 8.8.8 way after it had been released. I personally don't think the prices are that bad. I've got the same bottles at other shops for more $$$.
I can't give them a 5 but they earned a solid 4.5 for effort.
Definitely the best bottle shop in El Cajon.
Update:Now I LOVE this place because I scored a 3L of 2006 Double Bastard and 2 bombers of 2007 Double Bastard.

windy city is probably the finest place to pick up some brew in el cajon. the employees are friendly, though they may not all know a whole lot about craft beer. true, there are some old beers in there (i tend to see the summer yulesmith there during weird parts of the year; i still buy it when i see it, however), but if i just have to have some duchesse, this is where i would go. price is a little bit higher than most places (angels share for 35 bucks) but you pay for the convenience, i suppose.

This used to be a great beer store. Then Freddy left to take over Beverages 4 Less. Now, its just a liquor store. Very overstocked, tight rows, and the fear of knocking stuff over is omnipresent. Good beer selection in the locker, but a lot of it is REALLY old. I found a Marin Doppel that was at least 4 years old, as it was using the old label. The staff is not so helpful as there always seems to be some El Cajon derelict in there trying to cash a bad check and buy some cheap booze. Prices are gouge status.
