I have known these guys since I was a kid. Cliff and Kelly are good guys. The store is very and clean and well organized. They have a huge selection of craft, domestic and import. They do a nice job of getting in bottles that I don't find other places. They do a nice job of spreading the wealth on limited releases. Their prices on shelf beer are very fair. They are usually a couple bucks higher on the limited stuff. Cliff and Kelly are always knowledgeable and friendly.

Great selection, great keg selection if you need a good keg in a pinch. My only real gripe with this place is how I've been treated by the owners in the past when it comes to limited stuff. I was berated by one of the guys for not being a good customer once when I asked for a (1 bottle limit, overpriced) KBS- despite buying beer there every Monday for almost two years. Also got a similar run-around when trying to buy a limited bottle of whiskey that I bought off their shelf the previous year. I still go there once in a while, but I no longer really expect great things from them. Plenty of good stuff on their shelves all the time, but with such a big inventory, hops get old on the shelves.

This place is a bit of a drive for me, but I always try to visit every so often. Everything looks clean and orderly in the store. The beer aisles are split up by region, with bombers and 6 packs on different shelves. I can normally expect to find something new whenever I make a visit. All of the beer on the shelf in six packs can be broken up into singles, they individually price all of the caps along with the six packs. They are pretty good with keeping up releases, but more highly limited releases usually do not show up. I do always inquire about them, and they let me know if they did see it or not. The service is good, and the beer guy is glad to help anyone if you ask. Quality is genuinely good, most locals keep good rotation; but some imports and out of state breweries do linger on the shelves, so I always make sure to check bottle dating for styles that require freshness. Overall a really great store.

My go-to place for beer in the area. There's plenty of wine, booze, and cigars (and a pretty good little deli) but the star of the show is the beer, The shelves take up the back half of the store, with half the coolers full as well. BMC is all there, but so is tons of local and national beer in all formats (variety packs, bottles, cans, bombers, 750 ml, etc). Small batch mead and cider is represented, too. Just about any bottle on the floor can be bought as a single or a mix-six, with one cooler housing older singles for a discount mix-six, and one end cap dedicated for discount stuff. Limited stuff is harder to get, you gotta know the guys to even get on the list to get stuff.

If they don't have what you need they will get it in stock. The owners are a great help. Try the pizza it's good stuff. They have a pretty nice walk in humidor, with an excellent selection of fine cigars. Prices are average, however the selection is great.

This place is always one of my go to places. They usually have what I'm looking for.
The selection very large, they even have some hidden treasures there I can't find other places. I am lucky to live a relative close distance. Can't ask for more....

this is one place were the owner ( Cliff) will taker of you . They have a great selection not only in beer ,but in liquor too. I highly recommend this place. The prices are on target to all the other beer place around .
To get the hard to find or seasonal beers you don't have to be on a list like other places. I believe it's first come first serve , so may help to check in often to get the hard to find beers (like Backwoods Bastard ) . i also like the fact they have alot of single beers , that way you don't have to buy a six pck to find out if you like a certain beer or not .

Wine Palace is a little out of my way, but it was one of the few local places that still had Founder's Backwoods Bastard on hand. They had it on hand because they ration it out - 1 bottle per person. The price was a little steeper than I would have liked at $4.99, but supply and demand! (Another store was charging $7.99 for a single, so compared to that, Wine Palace is way more reasonable!)
Now for my impressions of the store. The isles are roomy enough for a couple people to browse comfortably, and the selection is pretty good. I'm particular to Belgian ales, and craft beers, and Wine Palace had a good selection of each. I noticed that they also had a cigar room, and a good selection of liquor (I might be hitting them up for some Scotch in the not-too-distant future!)
Cliff was the man who took care of me today, and he was extremely helpful. I'm grateful that they're limiting the Backwoods Bastard. If this wasn't happening, I wouldn't be fortunate enough to have one to cellar this year!

The Wine Palace is an exceptional Liquor/Craft Beer store! I have been shopping here for a few years now and every time I enter the doors I leave with a new gem wether it be a new craft brew, a great bottle of bourbon, lunch or even some Guernsey's Ice Cream(amazing stuff by the way).
The staff are very knowledgable and more than willing to lend a helping hand to help you find exactly what you are looking for-even if you started with no idea what it was in the first place.
Great craft beer, jumbo cocktail shrimp, ice cream and an exceptional liquor selection, what more could one ask for? I wouldn't know where to shop if i lost my precious Wine Palace! Keep up the great work Fellas!

This store is by far the best in Livonia, if not in the State. The Staff is awesome and always nice to anyone who walks in. The selection of beer is fantastic, you wouldnt know it by the name since its WINE Palace. I will be a loyal customer for the rest of my life and suggest to anyone that lives around Detroit to shop there. There is always an expert working in any department whether it be Wine, Liquor, Beer or food. Also one of the best looking girls you can imagine behind the counter. Way to go guys, Keep it up!!!

I was pretty close to just driving by this place, but stopped in when I noticed its signage. This is one of those alcohol warehouse type of places. They have nearly every type of drink you can imagine. Lots of beers too, but most of them are in sixers. They do have one small section of singles, but beware. I have to question the freshness of some of them. It's nice to have the choice to buy a ton of different Shorts beers, but really, are all of those going to be good to drink? I have to wonder. So just keep an eye out for certain beers. I personally just took one of each as I figured I wouldn't have many other chances to load up on so many Shorts brews. In the end, it was worth it, but some of them were not as good as I knew they could have been. Oh, they also had the Arbor sour beers available, so I picked them up. Service is mixed. Keep your expectations low on that. Overall, a decent spot to hit up, but I wouldn't make it my first. It was on the way to Beer Baron.

Stopped here on a recent business trip. I had actually driven past it a week earlier and stopped in later that day to scope out the selection. As the name implies, this is not a beer-first store (though I wouldn't say it's wine-first, either... kind of a mish-mash). They have an excellent selection of the locals: Shorts, Bells, Founders, Jolly Pumpkin, et al., all in quantity.
What really struck me was the fact that they had a ton of great stuff, I was checking it all out pretty intently, and not a single person engaged me while looking. I put together a mixed case of Shorts, Kuhnhenn and Bells and it wasn't until the final tally broke triple digits that any employee warmed up to me. And even then it was just "oh yeah, that one with the gold foil capsule [barrel-aged 4D] came in and sold out real quick." To which I replied, "yeah, I had the 09 on tap back in New York a week ago" and got glazed over looks coming back at me.
Positives: good selection, and they're open late. Clearly, they have buying power if they had a case of BA 4D, and someone there must know something about beer, he or she just didn't show their face on either of my visits.
I would stop by again, most likely, just because they had such great stuff. But as a beer advocate, I think I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

Not a bad store. Been there a few times and bought some Belgians and German Imports. It's in a good location, so if you're anywhere in the Metro Detroit Area or as far east as Ypsi or Ann Arbor, it's not too far of a drive. A decent selection of Michigan brews were present, as were some good selections of Belgians and German beers. Most were not in the cooler, as that space was reserved for macros and a few dare I say "craft-micros". There were some brews that were respectable had dust on them, leading me to think that perhaps most of the beer they sell is BMC stuff, yet the couple I got were decent enough, but I'd be it's like a minefield in there (Likely spoiled beers throughout the selection). I wasn't lucky enough to experience service, as the guy behind the counter was on the phone, but this was a moot point, as I wasn't in need of any assistance. This is not a bad store, I will likely check them out again, but they don't have the appeal of Merchants or the Single Selection space like Cloverleaf. On occassion you can find some hard to find Founders on hand when no one else has any (I got 2 - 4 packs of Breakfast stout for 10.00 each) Worthy of a stop if you're around the area. But if you're gonna go this far for beer, be sure to check out others in the area for a better selection.

Not bad! The one downside up front: The guys here know very little, as far as I can tell, about beer. I bought something here the other day that was priced at 4.50 -- reasonable for sure -- and he accidentally rang it up as 1.50. Then he did a double-take and commented, "Oh, man. I never would have imagined this thing could be $4.50." *shrug*
But they have a few beers I haven't seen anywhere else in a long time -- likely because their clientele isn't into good beer. Boon Framboise '97, several other obscure Belgians, a lot of German brews, a whole shelf of random English-style ales, and a decent -- though hardly exhaustive -- selection of micros. They're not refrigerated (save a few six-packs in the very back of the store), so I'm sure that the occasional bad bottle is going to be a likely -- and sad -- story here.
As of this review, I'm on a bit of a spending hiatus; after my beer supply began overflowing and I could no longer fit beer in my fridge, in my linen closet, and and on the counter, I decided I had too much for now. More drinking; less buying. Otherwise I'd have bought much more. Prices seemed fairly reasonable. Not the sheer bargain that you'd find at a place like Cloverleaf, but not the monetary ass handling you'll get from Big Ten.
I'd definitely recommend a stop if you're in the area.
