This was the "Go-To" beveage in downtown Songtan, Korea outside the gates of Osan AB! Of course, it could be the infamous suspect Korean alcohol by volume control that made them work, especally if you got ahold of the fabled "magic" bottle! If you did luck out, this was the greatest beverage ever made...ice cold, this brew was the stuff legends were made of! On the flipside, I suffered through several bottles and only received a headache for my troubles! Only found it once stateside and their export version wasn't bad, bottom line, I wouldn't turn one down should I ever find another, if that means anything!

Had a bottle of this at a Korean restaurant in Westboro, MA. I think my first beer from Korea.

Super light clear color, light bubbled head that disappears instantly.

Nose some cheap macro like lager but fairly crisp pilsner straw, bit of a corn or rice like weird substitute sugar flavor, no skunk or very unhappy lager though.

Taste light crisp but full flavor, light straw and hay, some light corn like cheap macro flavors but barely, light grassy hops and hint of bitterness, just a touch of a metallic twang. Finish is crisp dry but light icky bitterness that doesn't fade easily.

Mouth is lighter decent carb.

Overall not bad for an Asian pilsner. I wasn't expecting much, but it wasn't that bad. No skunk, very little metallic bad yeast flavor, light crisp and very drinkable.

I was down in Baltimore a few weekends ago, visiting a college chum and attending the annual Brewers' Art Mid-Atlantic Holiday Gathering. I took Amtrak to Penn Station and then began walking south to The Brewers Art when I passed Aloha Liquors, a little store that never fails to have something new and unusual available, prompting me to stop in. I scored a 1.6L plastic bottle of this, as well as some other gems that are sure to have been just as good (check previous reviews).

From the bottle: "Timeless enduring heritage, craftsmanship and new rice addition deliver refreshing smoothness and clean after taste, making OB the most drinkable beer."

I tried as aggressive a pour as I could muster, but I still only got wisps of head that faded as quickly as I poured and typed. Color was a still, light golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity. By "still", I mean that it exhibited precisely ZERO carbonation. Man, it was flat as a board. Nose had a big, sweet cooked corn odor and it became obvious where this was going. Mouthfeel was thin and flat with a sweetness that reminded me of the smell of spilled beer left to dry of its own accord. Ugh. Finish was still very sweet and I only wished that it had come in a CAN so that it might have some sort of redeeming feature. I am always reluctant to drain pour and this was going to help me pass some time, but I thought long and hard about sending it on its way. More boring than outright bad, but still worthy of some low numbers.

Whoa, been a looong time since I've had a beer this god awful. I ate lunch in the Koreatown section of Manhattan, and going with the flow decided to have an authentic brew. Won't go into the details, as it's just not worth the effort, but suffice it to say, water would have been far better...

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Golden straw color with a small white sea foam cap that does not really stick around.

Smell: Wow, there is almost no aroma. Maybe a little grass and light malt, but that's it.

Taste: The taste follows. This is just fizzy water basically. Some rice and a little bit of grass and lager yeast. No hops, that would be too much work.

Mouthfeel: Probably about as light as a beer can go and not drift away into the atmosphere. Very fizzy crisp, and clean, although that is mainly because there is not really any flavor that could screw that up.

Overall: It was a hard feat to accomplish, but this may have less flavor than most light beers. There is literally nothing to appreciate here. So glad I ordered this.

A - Very light straw yellow color with one finger head.

S - Very yeasty (surprisingly).

T/M - Hmmm. Light and yeasty, yeast would be the main flavor with nice effervescence.

O - Super session korean beer. Very nice lager comparable to a Kirin, but its Korean counterpart. Not sure why all the D+ ratings, as this is clearly not a craft beer, and you should take it as what it is, a mass produced session lager for the masses. I would drink this all day over BMC beer. This is an average beer.

PP (Price Point) - $6 for a 22oz. bomber at a nice Korean BBQ restaurant I stopped in to eat at. Very fair price for the fact it was purchased at a restaurant.

A: The pour is a pale yellow color with an initially large white head that soon dies off.

S: A moderate skunk and sulfur aroma to the beer, but overall it's light and sweet. Plenty of rice and a mild floral note that almost resembles honey. Some hints of straw and wet grass on the back end.

T: A fairly light flavor overall with some pale malts and plenty of rice. Decently sweet, but fairly crisp and refreshing, especially when it is cold. Maybe a touch watery.

M: The body is certainly quite light and the carbonation is moderate.

O: I didn't really see too much wrong with this one. It of course wasn't my favorite, but it was light and refreshing.

Pours clear yellow with soapy head. Smells like the warm can of stale Bud that was left out all night. Flavors of city tap water and warm corn. Standard mouthfeel a la Old Swill. Was hard to choke this "beer" down in Korea, even with the strong urge to drink beer of any kind. Avoid it unless you are desperate.

A twelve ounce bottle served at a decent Korean restaurant. The beer poured a crisp yellow color with a ring of white foam. The aroma is laden with adjunct: the starch of veggie and corn in particular. This pattern continues into the flavor. Not much more there than what was detected in the aroma. A dash of bitter hops at the end.

The beer successfully washed the food down, and in that way, served its purpose.

Served in a Half Acre shaker pint glass.

I found a vein of Korean brews at the "local" Asian marketplace. It pours a clear pale straw topped by a finger of white foam. The nose seems to be missing. Seriously, I can't smell a goddamn thing here. I can smell the White Castle across the room, so I know my nose works. What doesn't is this beer. Strike 1. The taste doesn't add all that much to the existing nothingness, just some earthy floral notes and a twinge of weak corn syrup. Strike 2. The body is very light, with a lightly fizzy carbonation and a thoroughly watery feel. I'm callin' that Strike 3. And this thing is definitely out. I don't want any more of this. Straight up (I feel like I've been caught in a hit-and-run with this thing).

TMoney2591 brought this over...thanks...I guess.

This beer pours a yellow color with a white froth adorning the surface. The smell is of the puffed rice and corn syrup and some bubblegum sweetness. The taste is of the rice and corn syrup along with some sort of burnt grass taste. It's not out right awful, but it's not what I would call a good tasting beer. This beer really isn't all that good. I hope S. Korea has more to offer than this beer.

Decided to drink a beer from the motherland, specifically, my mother's land.

A - A pale yellow color, huge carbonation head that disappeared quickly leaving no stick on the side.

S - Corn syrup sweet, also smells kind of like rice. Not good.

T - Tastes worse than it smells, rice-like sweetness, watery, a little bit grainy, this is a bad beer.

M - Watery, lot of carbonation.

D - Well, you can chug it, but I'll pass. Had no idea what this was when I got it at a Korean restaurant, will look to avoid it now.

650 ml bottle poured into a pint glass. Reviewed on my droid.

Pours very pale yellow, one of the palest beers I've seen. Aroma is cooked corn, effervescence, and a lime like aroma.

Taste is almost non existent. More watery than coors light. Really nothing to comment on. Why bother importing this?

I'm glad to have tried this, but it really is nothing special. No flavor at all.

I have had this many times, so it can't be that nasty, but it isn't anything special. This has a nice pour, big golden pour, big frothy lager head. The taste has mostly light crispy malts coming through, pretty good for an asian lager. Very drinkable, but nothing special or leaving an impression. This is good with sushi, but only because the taste is so light and non-offensive, but on it's own, that's what hurts this.

I was at a local Korean grocery today checking out some of the exotics, and I couldn't resist trying a Korean beer. Knowing how lousy some import adjucts can be, I had fairly low expectations but still wanted to give her a try.

Appearance isn't bad; bright golden color below a fingers worth of foamy head (no lacing to speak of).

Smell has a faint touch of buttery malt. A little cooked vegetable aroma hides among some grassy grain smells.

Taste is very mild, very light. A little bit of bite from grains, a little bit of sweetness, some "salty" bitter finish, but very light all told. Nothing about it tastes real bad, its just real boring.

High carbonation makes for a crisp mouthfeel. Super light body makes for a nice dry finish.

Light in flavor and light in weight makes for easy drinking as a bit of liquid refreshment to accompany some salty greasy food or to cool off on a summer day. It is what it is.

Smells bright and acidic. Like any normal lager. Dank wet malt, a little earthy. Light and sweet.

Tastes lke it has light carbonation with a soft malty aftertaste.

This beer is not that great but very nice paired with spicy Korean food.

OB! The Coors Light of Korean beers.

Pours a fat frothy head that takes a few minutes to dissipate. Tons of bubbles clinging to the side of the glass. Much like a soft drink. Pale yellow, and hardly smells like beer, more like rice.

Taste is pretty bland, and again not very beery. Ah well, it goes down easy. I think if you're eating Korean food and Hite is an option, you might want to go with that. Then again... soju might be your best bet.

The look is a typical yellow with a light head. It had that bland beer aroma. The taste was nondescript, but was somehow a bit refreshing. The beer is drinkable and goes good with Korean food, as it help cleanse the taste buds.

As OB and the now defunct Crown Beer were the only choices when I first went to Korea, OB has survived and holds its own against new Korean beers and imports now available.

A: Pours an extremely pale, clear yellow with a large, white foamy head.

S: Some lagery yeasts but otherwise, no smell at all.

T: Light, light, light... light like the weight of an anorexic girl. Some sweet corn malt, but otherwise, the beer is so light it might as well be seltzer water.

M: Nicely carbonated and crisp.

D: A nice respite from the intensely flavorful Galbi and Bulgogi that I was having, but does not hold its own. Why is it that countries with some of the most delicious cuisines don't have beer pairings that can match?

OB is a sparkling, very clear, light golden lager with a dense, fluffy white head that has decent retention and lacing. It has a faint, fruity aroma with generic grain in the nose. It's light bodied and quite smooth with a crisp finish. There's not much flavor here. There's not really any bitterness; just a generic grain flavor-- rice, I guess. It's dry and refreshing. I mowed the lawn before I drank this.

Ok.. This was not an outstanding beer by any means but it was just fine if you compare it to American Macro Lagers. I would have not problem drinking this beer with Kimchi and Bolgogi (however you spell it.) If I have korean food anytime again soon I will order this with it.
