Whoa, been a looong time since I've had a beer this god awful. I ate lunch in the Koreatown section of Manhattan, and going with the flow decided to have an authentic brew. Won't go into the details, as it's just not worth the effort, but suffice it to say, water would have been far better...

A bright yellow beer w/ a big bubbled foam head and slight stick. Grainy nose, w/ a grainy flavour/feel. Slight esters. Crisp & dry. Adjuncts are evident by a cooked veggie flavour. Thin bitterness which is rindy/salty/minerally. Thin sweetness and a grain dry finish.

This beer paired very nicely with my spicy korean chicken dish at lunch. Nice palate opener and cleanser.

330 ml thick brown bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: After a quick foaming after a hard pour the lace drops to a thin whispy state with very little stickage and poor retention overall. Clarity is perfect with a crystal clear yellow colour.

Smell: Sweet with a semi-harsh cereal adjunct aroma, smells gritty with some cooked veggies on the side.

Taste: Weak malt profile, more of a grain bite and slightly harsh adjunct astringency. Hops have some bitterness that intensifies the harshness, no noticeable hop flavour at all. Finishes with that same astringent bite, not very clean at all.

Mouthfeel: Thin body with an easy crispness from the carbonation, spritzy in a way.

Drinkability & Note: Hard to swallow a whole bottle of this stuff without wincing, not recommended at all … the only thing I got out of this was getting to try a beer from S. Korea, there are many other Asia breweries that push out better lagers than this.

(Served in a strange)

A- This beer has a pale straw yellow body that is crystal clear with carbonation of huge fast bubbles. The head is a thick layer of big rocky snow-white bubbles that fades after a bit.

S- The smell of noble bitter hops is almost artificial. There is a faint sulfur note in the finish, with a faint corn aroma coming through as it warms a bit.

T- This beer has a very light flavor with a faint sweetness followed by a slight noble hop bitterness. There is a very soft lime bite in the finish that comes through more as crisp sulfur as I drink. There is a slight carbonic bite that starts to take over the hop flavor, leaving a very washed out flavor.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a carbonic fizz in the mouthfeel.

D- This is light, refreshing and non-offensive to the point that it doesn't have a taste at all. The carbonation is probably the strongest flavor in this drink.

Nothing here, quite watery. Looks like water with some carbonation and malt thrown in, taste like it too. Yet is acidic. Crisp but astringent. No hops to speak of. OK, so I tried a Korean beer. Still better than a bud. Not a prize winner in Asia. Looks like old ginger ale.

Pours clear yellow with soapy head. Smells like the warm can of stale Bud that was left out all night. Flavors of city tap water and warm corn. Standard mouthfeel a la Old Swill. Was hard to choke this "beer" down in Korea, even with the strong urge to drink beer of any kind. Avoid it unless you are desperate.

Crystal clear, very light straw gold with a big foamy white head that holds OK at first - buoyed by a good level of carbonation - but soon drops to nothing! The aroma is softly sweet malt with a light fruitiness of apples and a background hoppiness. Light bodied with a crisp carbonation and somewhat watery mouthfeel. The flavor is a very slightly fruity and grainy malt - fairly dry with some hop bitterness. Not much of a finish - crisp and clean. And, I could be wrong about this, but the alcohol seems a bit noticeable which is very odd for a beer that only clocks in at 4.5%. Of course, a high fermentation temperature might also explain the fruitiness. Regardless, a very basic lager that offers little character. Not worth bothering.

Well, not too much here. Along the lines of a Big3 Light beer. Bright yellow color, with a very carbonated feel, but realtively smooth and drinkable. Not too much in the way of original taste. Agree with other advocates, average everyday beer, nothing to write home about.

Poured from a brown 21.6 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is crisp, mild malts, a bit of sweetness, and a touch of hops. Feels light in the mouth and has good drinkability. Overall this is a decent beer, good on a warm day.

A: Pours an extremely pale, clear yellow with a large, white foamy head.

S: Some lagery yeasts but otherwise, no smell at all.

T: Light, light, light... light like the weight of an anorexic girl. Some sweet corn malt, but otherwise, the beer is so light it might as well be seltzer water.

M: Nicely carbonated and crisp.

D: A nice respite from the intensely flavorful Galbi and Bulgogi that I was having, but does not hold its own. Why is it that countries with some of the most delicious cuisines don't have beer pairings that can match?

The beer appears a crystal clear straw color in my glass. The smell and taste are both grainy. I struggle to detect any hop or malt taste. The mouthfeel is nice though, because the carbonation is crisp. This is one light beer. I liken it to a lighter version of rolling rock. It goes down easy, but with little flavor.

The translucent gold color on the pour is one thing I do like about lagers, with their nice bright white head and fine lace sliding down the chilled glass, quite a sight. Malt aroma dominates this beer, crisp and clean, fresh and not all that unpleasant, top is thin, the finish highly acidic, hops are apropos for the style aftertaste dry and long lasting, but just an everyday average old beer, and to tell you the truth that ain’t all bad.

I have consumed enough of this beer to kill or preserve a horse. That is if formaldehyde legend is true. Most Koreans will tell you that it is not. Call me crazy but I believe them. Service Members say that about every drink in Korea. That legend comes from when they would preserve Soju with it back in the day. Every time I would have OB it was different. You have to take it on a batch by batch basis. Some times it would have a strong metlic taste to it and other times it would not. Sometimes it went down smooth and other times it felt kind of harsh. The same went with the smell. I do think their imports to the States stay more consistant or may it is because in Korea they will let a beer go skunk.

Had a couple bottles at San Soo Gap San in Chicago.Served in a OB taster glass.

Very light yellow in appearance not much head at all.

The aroma was not too impressive, however it had a nice fresh and clean scent.

Fresh taste, rice flavors, smooth taste, not complex by any stretch of the imagination. But a nice light malty flavor.

I am not one for drinking Amercan Macro Lagers, but this is a very clean refreshing beer that is good with the Korean food that I had.
I think it would be great on a hot day mowing the lawn.
I wouldn't hunt this down, but if you get a chance try it.

This was the "Go-To" beveage in downtown Songtan, Korea outside the gates of Osan AB! Of course, it could be the infamous suspect Korean alcohol by volume control that made them work, especally if you got ahold of the fabled "magic" bottle! If you did luck out, this was the greatest beverage ever made...ice cold, this brew was the stuff legends were made of! On the flipside, I suffered through several bottles and only received a headache for my troubles! Only found it once stateside and their export version wasn't bad, bottom line, I wouldn't turn one down should I ever find another, if that means anything!

This is definitely my favorite of the ubiquitous big three here in the Hermit Kingdom. I wouldn't drink it if on vacation in Brugges or Prague but its superior to Hite (shudder) and sister beer Cass.
Pouring a plastic 500ml bottle into a tall glass reveals a subpar colored beer, more tannish than golden with a weak, uninspired head.
The smell is likewise poor, all I detected were cereals, and stank cerals at that.
However, the taste is a pleasant surprise after the initial examination process. The beer tastes fresh (ironically much more so than Cass Fresh), with a nearly citrus tinge and possibly wheat flavorings as well. Mouthfeel is a bit gritty though.
This beer does go down pretty easy although reportedly more than a few can give you nasty gas, although I haven't yet experienced this. Overall, this beer isn't great but it' beats the competition hands down.

Arrived a thin golden yellow with a light carbonation. Very limited crown or lace and cling in evidence. The body is thin as well.
Aroma is to the skunk...
Taste is thin, weak and bland....but well balanced for what that's worth.
Not impressive....not recomended....geez, just thin all over.

I had more of this beer than one can imagine while stationed in Korea. Bought a six pack the other day at the beer store to see if it was still as bad as I remembered it. It was. But then, it was cheap, plentiful and washed down the questionable Korean cuisine. Many fond memories with this beer.

i'm still not sure what i think about this beer, but i wouldn't mind trying another one to try and figure itout. the beer poured with a light head that quickly receded, and left lacing for the duration. the aroma was slightly hoppy and with a clean lager yeast scent. the flavor wasn't exceptional, but it did hit the spot. there was some nice to thin mouthfeel, and a touch of sweet malt flavor, and no unpleasant aftertaste. this beer is very average leaning to the pleasant side. not as skunky as some of it's amercan counterparts.

This beer pours a pale yellow, the infamous "cheap beer" color, with a decent-sized white head. Oddly enough, the head doesn't last long, though there is plenty of carbonation present. It smells a bit grainy, and somewhat like vegetables, fairly standard adjunct smells. As for the taste, it doesn't taste like much of anything to me, a little bit of malt was present, but overall it was quite watery. Sort of what I might imagine Light-Light Beer to taste like, perhaps. The mouthfeel is thin and watery, with too much carbonation. You could drink a lot of this beer, since it certainly isn't filling, but I for one would rather drink beer that tastes like something, so the drinkability is not very high.

Had a bottle of this at a Korean restaurant in Westboro, MA. I think my first beer from Korea.

Super light clear color, light bubbled head that disappears instantly.

Nose some cheap macro like lager but fairly crisp pilsner straw, bit of a corn or rice like weird substitute sugar flavor, no skunk or very unhappy lager though.

Taste light crisp but full flavor, light straw and hay, some light corn like cheap macro flavors but barely, light grassy hops and hint of bitterness, just a touch of a metallic twang. Finish is crisp dry but light icky bitterness that doesn't fade easily.

Mouth is lighter decent carb.

Overall not bad for an Asian pilsner. I wasn't expecting much, but it wasn't that bad. No skunk, very little metallic bad yeast flavor, light crisp and very drinkable.

I was down in Baltimore a few weekends ago, visiting a college chum and attending the annual Brewers' Art Mid-Atlantic Holiday Gathering. I took Amtrak to Penn Station and then began walking south to The Brewers Art when I passed Aloha Liquors, a little store that never fails to have something new and unusual available, prompting me to stop in. I scored a 1.6L plastic bottle of this, as well as some other gems that are sure to have been just as good (check previous reviews).

From the bottle: "Timeless enduring heritage, craftsmanship and new rice addition deliver refreshing smoothness and clean after taste, making OB the most drinkable beer."

I tried as aggressive a pour as I could muster, but I still only got wisps of head that faded as quickly as I poured and typed. Color was a still, light golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity. By "still", I mean that it exhibited precisely ZERO carbonation. Man, it was flat as a board. Nose had a big, sweet cooked corn odor and it became obvious where this was going. Mouthfeel was thin and flat with a sweetness that reminded me of the smell of spilled beer left to dry of its own accord. Ugh. Finish was still very sweet and I only wished that it had come in a CAN so that it might have some sort of redeeming feature. I am always reluctant to drain pour and this was going to help me pass some time, but I thought long and hard about sending it on its way. More boring than outright bad, but still worthy of some low numbers.

Decided to drink a beer from the motherland, specifically, my mother's land.

A - A pale yellow color, huge carbonation head that disappeared quickly leaving no stick on the side.

S - Corn syrup sweet, also smells kind of like rice. Not good.

T - Tastes worse than it smells, rice-like sweetness, watery, a little bit grainy, this is a bad beer.

M - Watery, lot of carbonation.

D - Well, you can chug it, but I'll pass. Had no idea what this was when I got it at a Korean restaurant, will look to avoid it now.

A - Very light straw yellow color with one finger head.

S - Very yeasty (surprisingly).

T/M - Hmmm. Light and yeasty, yeast would be the main flavor with nice effervescence.

O - Super session korean beer. Very nice lager comparable to a Kirin, but its Korean counterpart. Not sure why all the D+ ratings, as this is clearly not a craft beer, and you should take it as what it is, a mass produced session lager for the masses. I would drink this all day over BMC beer. This is an average beer.

PP (Price Point) - $6 for a 22oz. bomber at a nice Korean BBQ restaurant I stopped in to eat at. Very fair price for the fact it was purchased at a restaurant.

Pours a clear pale yellow color with a flimsy white head that fades before its all said and done. Smells watery, some pale hops, and a bit metallic. I fell like this is Korea's Keystone. Mouthfeel was ok and the same with the drinkability. I couldn't pour this one into a glass again and try to enjoy it. More for a party and you'd consume multiples of this guy.
