Nothing here, quite watery. Looks like water with some carbonation and malt thrown in, taste like it too. Yet is acidic. Crisp but astringent. No hops to speak of. OK, so I tried a Korean beer. Still better than a bud. Not a prize winner in Asia. Looks like old ginger ale.

A: The pour is a pale yellow color with an initially large white head that soon dies off.

S: A moderate skunk and sulfur aroma to the beer, but overall it's light and sweet. Plenty of rice and a mild floral note that almost resembles honey. Some hints of straw and wet grass on the back end.

T: A fairly light flavor overall with some pale malts and plenty of rice. Decently sweet, but fairly crisp and refreshing, especially when it is cold. Maybe a touch watery.

M: The body is certainly quite light and the carbonation is moderate.

O: I didn't really see too much wrong with this one. It of course wasn't my favorite, but it was light and refreshing.

Served in a Half Acre shaker pint glass.

I found a vein of Korean brews at the "local" Asian marketplace. It pours a clear pale straw topped by a finger of white foam. The nose seems to be missing. Seriously, I can't smell a goddamn thing here. I can smell the White Castle across the room, so I know my nose works. What doesn't is this beer. Strike 1. The taste doesn't add all that much to the existing nothingness, just some earthy floral notes and a twinge of weak corn syrup. Strike 2. The body is very light, with a lightly fizzy carbonation and a thoroughly watery feel. I'm callin' that Strike 3. And this thing is definitely out. I don't want any more of this. Straight up (I feel like I've been caught in a hit-and-run with this thing).

Crystal clear, very light straw gold with a big foamy white head that holds OK at first - buoyed by a good level of carbonation - but soon drops to nothing! The aroma is softly sweet malt with a light fruitiness of apples and a background hoppiness. Light bodied with a crisp carbonation and somewhat watery mouthfeel. The flavor is a very slightly fruity and grainy malt - fairly dry with some hop bitterness. Not much of a finish - crisp and clean. And, I could be wrong about this, but the alcohol seems a bit noticeable which is very odd for a beer that only clocks in at 4.5%. Of course, a high fermentation temperature might also explain the fruitiness. Regardless, a very basic lager that offers little character. Not worth bothering.

Had a bottle of this at a Korean restaurant in Westboro, MA. I think my first beer from Korea.

Super light clear color, light bubbled head that disappears instantly.

Nose some cheap macro like lager but fairly crisp pilsner straw, bit of a corn or rice like weird substitute sugar flavor, no skunk or very unhappy lager though.

Taste light crisp but full flavor, light straw and hay, some light corn like cheap macro flavors but barely, light grassy hops and hint of bitterness, just a touch of a metallic twang. Finish is crisp dry but light icky bitterness that doesn't fade easily.

Mouth is lighter decent carb.

Overall not bad for an Asian pilsner. I wasn't expecting much, but it wasn't that bad. No skunk, very little metallic bad yeast flavor, light crisp and very drinkable.

330 ml thick brown bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: After a quick foaming after a hard pour the lace drops to a thin whispy state with very little stickage and poor retention overall. Clarity is perfect with a crystal clear yellow colour.

Smell: Sweet with a semi-harsh cereal adjunct aroma, smells gritty with some cooked veggies on the side.

Taste: Weak malt profile, more of a grain bite and slightly harsh adjunct astringency. Hops have some bitterness that intensifies the harshness, no noticeable hop flavour at all. Finishes with that same astringent bite, not very clean at all.

Mouthfeel: Thin body with an easy crispness from the carbonation, spritzy in a way.

Drinkability & Note: Hard to swallow a whole bottle of this stuff without wincing, not recommended at all … the only thing I got out of this was getting to try a beer from S. Korea, there are many other Asia breweries that push out better lagers than this.

The beer pours a pale yellow color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to spotty lacing. The aroma is average. It has a pale malt and adjunct scent. It is clean and crisp with a dry lager yeast aroma. It is grainy and a bit skunky. The taste is average as well. It has a watery pale malt and adjunct flavor. It is grainy with a dry finish. It goes down easy and finishes clean. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a low bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a decent drinking adjunct lager. It has little character, but is an easy dinker in the hot summer weather. Otherwise, it's one and done for me.

This beer is a bright straw color, and is topped by a good sized white head that lasts a fair bit. The aroma has a hint of hop and malt, but really not much of anything. A light sweet taste and a light thin body. Almost offensive in its in-offensiveness. Tastes a bit grainy and the sweetish thin finish could really use some hop bitterness to balance it out.

I was down in Baltimore a few weekends ago, visiting a college chum and attending the annual Brewers' Art Mid-Atlantic Holiday Gathering. I took Amtrak to Penn Station and then began walking south to The Brewers Art when I passed Aloha Liquors, a little store that never fails to have something new and unusual available, prompting me to stop in. I scored a 1.6L plastic bottle of this, as well as some other gems that are sure to have been just as good (check previous reviews).

From the bottle: "Timeless enduring heritage, craftsmanship and new rice addition deliver refreshing smoothness and clean after taste, making OB the most drinkable beer."

I tried as aggressive a pour as I could muster, but I still only got wisps of head that faded as quickly as I poured and typed. Color was a still, light golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity. By "still", I mean that it exhibited precisely ZERO carbonation. Man, it was flat as a board. Nose had a big, sweet cooked corn odor and it became obvious where this was going. Mouthfeel was thin and flat with a sweetness that reminded me of the smell of spilled beer left to dry of its own accord. Ugh. Finish was still very sweet and I only wished that it had come in a CAN so that it might have some sort of redeeming feature. I am always reluctant to drain pour and this was going to help me pass some time, but I thought long and hard about sending it on its way. More boring than outright bad, but still worthy of some low numbers.

(Served in a strange)

A- This beer has a pale straw yellow body that is crystal clear with carbonation of huge fast bubbles. The head is a thick layer of big rocky snow-white bubbles that fades after a bit.

S- The smell of noble bitter hops is almost artificial. There is a faint sulfur note in the finish, with a faint corn aroma coming through as it warms a bit.

T- This beer has a very light flavor with a faint sweetness followed by a slight noble hop bitterness. There is a very soft lime bite in the finish that comes through more as crisp sulfur as I drink. There is a slight carbonic bite that starts to take over the hop flavor, leaving a very washed out flavor.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a carbonic fizz in the mouthfeel.

D- This is light, refreshing and non-offensive to the point that it doesn't have a taste at all. The carbonation is probably the strongest flavor in this drink.

Pours a two-fingered white head that fades quickly leaving no lace. Ugly pale yellow color with a greenish tinge. Adjunct nose. Light carbonation and light bodied. Insipid taste of hops and adjuncts with a slighly sweet finish. Not worth $2.05 for a 12oz bottle from Oliver's Beverage Albany, NY. Only bought it to get a new country - #59.

Poured from a brown 21.6 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is crisp, mild malts, a bit of sweetness, and a touch of hops. Feels light in the mouth and has good drinkability. Overall this is a decent beer, good on a warm day.

The translucent gold color on the pour is one thing I do like about lagers, with their nice bright white head and fine lace sliding down the chilled glass, quite a sight. Malt aroma dominates this beer, crisp and clean, fresh and not all that unpleasant, top is thin, the finish highly acidic, hops are apropos for the style aftertaste dry and long lasting, but just an everyday average old beer, and to tell you the truth that ain’t all bad.

Decided to drink a beer from the motherland, specifically, my mother's land.

A - A pale yellow color, huge carbonation head that disappeared quickly leaving no stick on the side.

S - Corn syrup sweet, also smells kind of like rice. Not good.

T - Tastes worse than it smells, rice-like sweetness, watery, a little bit grainy, this is a bad beer.

M - Watery, lot of carbonation.

D - Well, you can chug it, but I'll pass. Had no idea what this was when I got it at a Korean restaurant, will look to avoid it now.

12 oz brown bottle, capped. No freshness date.

This beer poured a clear, fizzy, yellow color with white foam that settled. The smell was sweetish lager malt with some grain husk aroma and a very faint hint of hops. The taste was slightly sweet malt with grain (a corn like taste) and very muted hops, mostly in the finish. The mouthfeel was on the thin side with moderate carbonation. Fairly clean, though not surprising with the light body and flavor. This was an OK lager, good for eating spicy food, but overall fairly average or slightly below.

A - Bud style clear straw small white head some cling lace.
S - light malt lighter hop but there.
T - like smell but slight butterscotch flavor.
M - carbed well. Easy balance light body.
D - Not hard to drink. Just not very interesting.

A bright yellow beer w/ a big bubbled foam head and slight stick. Grainy nose, w/ a grainy flavour/feel. Slight esters. Crisp & dry. Adjuncts are evident by a cooked veggie flavour. Thin bitterness which is rindy/salty/minerally. Thin sweetness and a grain dry finish.

This beer paired very nicely with my spicy korean chicken dish at lunch. Nice palate opener and cleanser.

This golden lager poured a big fluffy head that dissapeared quickly. Not much notable about the smell. The taste of sweet malts with no afterbite from the hops. This is a pretty thin lager that is quenching my thirst but is less than the average beer.

The look is a typical yellow with a light head. It had that bland beer aroma. The taste was nondescript, but was somehow a bit refreshing. The beer is drinkable and goes good with Korean food, as it help cleanse the taste buds.

As OB and the now defunct Crown Beer were the only choices when I first went to Korea, OB has survived and holds its own against new Korean beers and imports now available.

Drank from a 12 fl. oz. bottle at Koreana Restaurant, Cambridge, MA

Poured a pale straw yellow with a fizzy, bright white, one-finger head that quickly disappeared.

The aroma was quite sweet and fruity for the style. A floral bouquet was immediately noticeable along with hints of ripe fruits and bubblegum. As the beer warmed the aromas seemed to subside.

The taste was not as exiting as the nose. A touch of grain and malt sweetness were the only flavors I could detect. The finish was remarkably clean (and practically flavorless). Mouthfeel was medium bodied with an overwhelming, fizzy carbonation.

Drinkability was quite good. This beer was light and refreshing and did not contain any of the "off" flavors or skunkiness found in many other macros.

Bottle looks like a knock-off of Bud Light. Very pale yellow color with medium carbonation. Some lacing. Smells like corn and watery malt, a trace of hops. Taste? Fair. Nothing special, just typical flavors of adjunct, weak malt, and a slight indication of saltiness. Mouthfeel was bubbly and light. As for drinkability, I guess I could have this again, but I certanly won't seek it out. Average at best.

This is definitely my favorite of the ubiquitous big three here in the Hermit Kingdom. I wouldn't drink it if on vacation in Brugges or Prague but its superior to Hite (shudder) and sister beer Cass.
Pouring a plastic 500ml bottle into a tall glass reveals a subpar colored beer, more tannish than golden with a weak, uninspired head.
The smell is likewise poor, all I detected were cereals, and stank cerals at that.
However, the taste is a pleasant surprise after the initial examination process. The beer tastes fresh (ironically much more so than Cass Fresh), with a nearly citrus tinge and possibly wheat flavorings as well. Mouthfeel is a bit gritty though.
This beer does go down pretty easy although reportedly more than a few can give you nasty gas, although I haven't yet experienced this. Overall, this beer isn't great but it' beats the competition hands down.

OB is a sparkling, very clear, light golden lager with a dense, fluffy white head that has decent retention and lacing. It has a faint, fruity aroma with generic grain in the nose. It's light bodied and quite smooth with a crisp finish. There's not much flavor here. There's not really any bitterness; just a generic grain flavor-- rice, I guess. It's dry and refreshing. I mowed the lawn before I drank this.

I had this from a big plastic bottle...maybe 2 liters. And the beer fit its packaging - cheap, flat, and generally only worthwhile. My body did the recycling of the beer for me, and I imagine the recycled product didn't come out much worse than the raw material that fueled it.

The beer is pale. And flat. And the aroma that is there isn't good. The flavor is a little worse. A touch of corn sweetness, but a weird chemical-ness that does not belong in any beer anywhere prevails.

Steer clear of this stuff.

I have consumed enough of this beer to kill or preserve a horse. That is if formaldehyde legend is true. Most Koreans will tell you that it is not. Call me crazy but I believe them. Service Members say that about every drink in Korea. That legend comes from when they would preserve Soju with it back in the day. Every time I would have OB it was different. You have to take it on a batch by batch basis. Some times it would have a strong metlic taste to it and other times it would not. Sometimes it went down smooth and other times it felt kind of harsh. The same went with the smell. I do think their imports to the States stay more consistant or may it is because in Korea they will let a beer go skunk.
