This beer pours a medium golden color with a small fizzy white head. The head fades a bit quickly. Aroma is mostly sweet corn but there's also a spicyness to it. The flavor is once again strong on the sweet corn taste but the spicyness is there as well. I think there's some hoppy spicyness to this beer. Very nice, but it could still use a little more. Body is medium but the lack of carbonation hurts. If this beer were better carbonated and had a little more hop spicyness it could really kick ass. As it is, I'd rather get a High Life b/c of pricing and the minimal difference between the two beers.

Not bad at all pours golden with a bright full white head and leaves a thick ring of lacing with each sip very nice, hey for 3.99 a sixer you can't really beat this stuff as the label states a smooth refreshing all grain beer. Infamous or famous in the Pittsburgh area brewed originally in Smithton, PA a classic staple of the area more of an old school beer. Aroma contains a sweet malt aroma with a touch of hops thrown in making this one simple yet great beer. Taste is of grain with a sweet distinct malted barley flavor and just the right amount of bitterness for a lager of this caliber semi grassy sweet tones wow, I wish they sold this in a bigger quantity than a sixer in WV. Mouthfeel is medium to light in body with a decent amount of carbonation no offness here smooth and clean just the way it should be. Drinkability is pretty high due to the fact that it could be consumed in quantity and it's not bad a go to when faced with mass produced American lagers, drink local right?

12 oz can served in a Heineken stein.

Not much to this beer. The aroma is quite weak, but pleasant and with no off-notes. The similar flavor is actually stronger than the aroma indicates. This is not saying much; the beer tastes about halfway between a light beer and a bland pilsner to me. Still, this is a refreshing beer, with detectable malt and hops.

O: With no significant flaws, other than a lack of flavor and character, this is a decent, thirst-quenching beer. Certainly a step up from Corona, various 'lite' beers, and their brethren, but still pretty much a typical (think macro brewer) American lager beer.

This was coming off the truck when I walked into my local distributer. I was in the mood to try something new, and I didn't want to spend much, so I decided to give Stoney's a shot.

Pale gold in color. Tastes and smell of corn, minimal hops. I'd like to say that this tastes significantly better than PBR or Stroh's but it's pretty much the same. I will say that unlike some other entry level beers this one does not suffer from repeated exposure, you can drink it all day without growing to hate it. Drink this one very cold, any less than totally chilled and the corn flavor can be overbearing.

On tap at the local VFW.

6 taps at the VFW with this looking like the best offering.

I have to admit that being from this area where this beer is made, this is the first time I've had it on tap. I was pleasantly surprised! Taste is of corn but with a slight hint of hops. Not too sweet and very drinkable of a hot day.

Not bad at all for what it is, a mild lager with no surprises and very drinkable. Much better than BMC.

Will have again!

Thanks to woodychandler for continuing to keep me up to date with canned beers. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some grains and corn detected. Taste is light, grains, a slight bit of medicinal flavor at the finish. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is about your standard adjunct lager.

A: Poured a light straw-gold with a thin, foamy white head.

S: The aroma was light grains, corn with a dry herbal hoppiness.

T: light, very macro-like with pale corn malt, and a faint spicy lemon hopping. More hoppiness then your traditional macro-lager.

M: thin, watery and pretty much lackluster.

D: Moderate per style with some saving grace from the hoppiness. Okay but is, what it is.

Pours a clear yellow color with 1/2 inch head that dissapates quickly. There is a little lacing.

Scent reminds me of a High Life sweet malt, corn, mild hop.

Taste absolutely follows the nose. It is sweet malt, with corn/rice up front and finishes sweet short lived and rather bland, almost no hop character until the burp, "oh, there it is"...

Mouthfeel is light bodied with too much carbination.

Drinkability is nice for a warm summer day with nothing available but Stoneys. It's refreshing but bland.

I was told by the store owner that this is the oldest brewery in PA. Well, I wouldn't pay $1.20 for this 16oz again when I can get a High Life 22oz for $0.99. I am going to dump the rest down the drain..

Poured from a 12 Oz. Can into a pilsner glass

Pours a very light straw body with a white head that rises and falls rather quickly. Prickly carbonation. Plenty of grain sweetness in the nose with a slight earthy hop background. The flavor is sweet pale malt. There's enough hop balance but I could use more. Finishes somewhat dry and clean.

Appearance: Medium golden color, with a small white head, which quickly faes to a dusting of white foam, and a small ring around the glass walls.

Aroma: Rather sweet with notes of caramel, bordering on candy corn, with some medicinal hop notes

Taste: Opens quite sweet, with a caramel undercurrent that lingers from start to finish. At the close of the taste, there is a slight hint of mild hop bitterness.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, and pleasant.

Drinkability/notes: Unfortunately, seems rather mediocre. It would benefit from a greater hop presence, and some toasted malt.

Presentation: packaged in a twelve-ounce brown glass longneck bottle, with a twist-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Found at the Gilroy California BevMo.

Clear yellow colored beer with a tall white head.

Smells sweet with a slight corn aroma. Grassy hop aroma with a slight lemon scent.

Starts out really nothing for flavor. Light grain flavor mostly corn. Slight lemon flavor from the hops. Taste, just not a lot here.

Mouthfeel is pretty much carbonated water.

Certainly easy to drink, just not any flavor here.

Never saw this one before and decided to give it a try. Am a little amused by the claim of "all grain beer". Are there a number of beers in Pitt using dairy or veggies in their brew? Anyway, this pours a medium gold with slight head that skedaddles almost before it's out of the can. Inoffensive smelling. Enjoying with a couple of grilled hot dogs for a late lunch.

Nothing surprising with some moderate graininess and slightly metallic pilsener hop notes. The mouthfeel is also a little flatter than I'd like but the whole package together is fine, if nothing outstanding. Pretty clean finish, too. Better than the international behemoths, although not by much.

Being a big fan of the pilsners, this to me is a session beer!
Medium golden hue with a small crown and minor glass ring.
Carbonation is limited but seems stronger.
The body is full medium.
Aroma has a very slight yeasty scent.
The taste starts a slim malty sweetness and finishes to the hops and a burning quality that requires further consumption to continue the loop.
Very nice.
Recomended!

Yellow and clear. Smells like beer. Taste like a bit of earth with faint flavor of hops. Not much carbonation, smooth and refreshing like the bottle says. Get it nice and cold and watch it go down EASY!!!! You could kane a case of these on a pleasant summer day. Prime if you live in Pittsburgh, as you would get it pretty fresh. A better version of Straub's as it has no added sugar or salt. Virtually hangoverless and highly recommended for heavy sessioning. Was told this is an old mans beer and an old man knows more than you because he is old. A great beer for what it is.

A: Pours a lightly hazy medium yellow with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and some faint straw yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy sudsy white head that reduces to a mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of sweet corn and grain adjuncts with a light hint of grassy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of slightly sweet corn and grain adjunct along with a touch of sweet malts. There is a light flavor of grassy and slightly medicinal hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades quickly. Very light hints of lemon citrus in there as well.

M: Just heavier than light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Sort of coats your tongue and lingers.

O: Probably a little more enjoyable than a lot of the BMC versions of AALs but nothing really special - easy to drink and certainly decent for the price ($1 a 16 oz can).

CAN you believe it has taken a 'Burgh guy like myself this long to find Stoney's in a CAN?!? Sacriligous!

It was the Case of the Rapidly Dissipating Head as I got some bone-white head that evaporated like milk. Poof, gone! Color was a light golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose was kind of pungent with a light lager sweetness overlain by adjuncts and a berry-like scent that I have experienced before, but never figured out its origin. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium with a slight sort of a white wine sourness on the tongue. It was certainly an AmeriCAN Adjunct lager. Finish was slightly dry, a little sour, not really to my liking. When it comes to the style, I've had waaaay worse, but I have also had better. Sorry, but this is not making its way into my cooler any time soon.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale yellow color with a short lived white head.

S: Smells sour right off the bat. Sweet corn and grain and a bit of a grass aroma. Not much to say about this, to be honest.

T: Overly sweet and medicinal. Cough syrup, orange, corn tortilla, and old, decaying grain. Just not pleasing in any sense.

M: The body is light, but it sits on the tongue too long. Medium in carbonation.

D: This was pretty awful. No wonder it only costs $0.50 a can.

Mmmmm... American Adjunct Lager!

Friend left a couple of these in my fridge, so what the heck.

Pours a faint yellow color with a pretty nice big fluffy head.

Aromas are actually decent. A little sweet, corn, and some mineral hops.

Taste is really clean and simple. Crisp, light dough flavors, with a mineral like finish

Mouthfeel is ok, but kind of over carbonated.

Drinkability is pretty good. Not bad for the style, its a decent refreshing beer.
