This was our original recipe back in 2006. We wanted to create a nice dark lager, nutty from roasted malts (no nuts!) that is clean and easy drinking. To this day, it's one of our favorites. A mix of German Munich malts and good ol' American Williamette hops. Simply good. That's KelSo beer.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) can into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint; canned 1/27/20.
A: Pours a nearly clear, dark copper to deep brown color with orange highlights, a more than one finger, wheat color head, ring retention, but limited lacing.
S: Pleasantly acidic. Aromas of cherrywood, molasses > caramel, dark roast coffee, and brown sugar, at first. Grainier as it warms.
T: Semidry. Flavor pallet similar to the nose. Very smooth. Light bitterness provides solid balance.
M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: Call it what you will, "nut brown" or "European dark" lager, this is a really enjoyable. Light, but complex and fun.

On-tap @ Blind Tiger in New York, NY.
Fresh keg just tapped, as the bartender wrote it on the board right before I ordered it. A nice, clear, ruby brown color with a small off-white head. Nutty, chocolatey, breads malts balanced by light herbal/earthy hops. The initial impression implies sweetness, but it finishes with a soft dryness. Medium bodied, clean and smooth, this beer is basically a Munich dunkel. And a good one, at that.

Pour a medium brown with a one inch off-white head that left some lacing. Smells and tastes of roasted malts, a mild nuttiness, caramel and a hint of cocoa powder that gives it a bitter finish. Light bodied, medium carbonation, smooth and refreshing.
